Any joggers out there?

That is all dependant on the distances you are running. Try running a 1/2 Marathon or further with nothing for rehydration etc and you will feel it towards the end. Anything 10 miles and under should be fine but this is different for everyone....

What distances are you running DK?

I've joined a running club - and its certainly making my running faster - but also is a lot of fun

the other day we were doing intervals (each interval was 1.2km) - 5-6 intervals of - and within each interval were 2 substantially sections of flooded road (2-3 inches deep abot 90m long or so) - great fun :)

I'm up to about 35-40km a week atm

I don't jog much any more but I transitioned to Fivefingers and bar having to basically start over again (lest you wreck your calves, as I found out) I will never, ever go back to overly built footwear, for... pretty much anything if I can help it. They're excellent for the gym too since you don't want any heel lift/unstable base for the barbell lifts.

Even for casual wear now I look for lightweight, thin, relatively flexible, not much heel lift as otherwise my feet feel (and technically are) horribly bound up. Pity most minimalist footwear looks a bit gash, but I'm a firm believer in 'less is more' for your feet now. Whenever I see people jogging now in huge trainers and heel-striking loudly I cry a bit inside.

I reckon anybody who has completed the Marathon de Sables is a little more experienced than most of us ;)

OP, I wrote this in 2000 but I still stand by all of it - http://www.disturbinthepeace.co.uk/runtip.htm

I'm lucky because about 200 yards from my house I connect with a path and for my 6 mile run I might not see another human. Running around streets and roads can be very daunting because you will get verbal abuse etc.

Unbelievably sad, but very true. The amount of people you get laughing at you from cars, or pipping their horns at you is bizarre as well. Is it really that funny to see someone out running?

If they find that funny, must be a barrel of laughs being them.
