Any Mini (2000 onwards) owners about?

Warranty renewal time and it’s £380 again. I checked how much it would cost to insure the same model that doesn’t have a warranty and it’s £697 for the same level of cover. Methinks I’ll keep extending it.

Still annoying, especially now my Cooper does about 2k a year :D

first gen was smaller iirc so less weight probably around the same in terms of power to performance.

which is why i stated mini cooper s.

the cooper s was the proper hot hatch.

the cooper and cooper d were like any normal car just smaller. the one was gutless. the cooper and cooper d would appear fun to anyone who has never driven a proper hot hatch.

Agreed after driving the mini i see why they took the speedo away from in front of the driver so you can't see the lame ass acceleration.

I am interested in a 2016 Cooper with 37k miles. It has a lot of extras such as panoramic sunroof, harman kardon, satnav, parking sensors, rear view camera, chili pack, HUD and media XL. Is the general consensus that the mini warranty is worth getting? It is £344 with £250 excess but no breakdown cover (I already have breakdown elsewhere). Funny enough it's the sunroof which worries me most :D

How does the excess work?

Thanks.

The wife has a F55 Mini Cooper and whilst it's certainly not shove back in the seat acceleration it's still pretty nippy. Regardless though they're still great fun to drive around the country roads we have here.

Given that the Cooper isn't a hot hatch at all it's just a regular normal car I think it's really quite quick for what it is. It's a shopping car not a performance car yet still does 0-60 in 7.9 seconds and has 140bhp. I never find the performance anything other than good.

At that price, you might want to consider the no excess option. After a few claims with an excess you'd probably end up paying more than the total premium had you not opted for one.

My F55 cooper S was a late 2016 build which also never had any problems. It actually had a 5 year TLC pack on it that I was unaware of when I bought it. In the 2.5 years I owned it, I only paid for the MOT's, tax, fuel and insurance. I didn't have to replace a single consumable. I liked it a lot as it was an enjoyable car to drive and surprisingly comfortable. I traded it in for a 2020 F54 clubman as I fancied the bigger car. I'm hoping the clubby proves to be equally as reliable,

Picked it up today and I absolutely love it. So does my wife and daughter who will also drive it. Performance in sport mode is more than fine. The pan roof really makes makes it a nice place and the seats are very comfy. It's just a lovely, happy, car.

Took the F55 Cooper S in for a brake fluid service at Mini and they are saying it needs new front discs when the pads are changed. They estimate that the pads have about 2000-3000 miles left in them.

Is it a bit odd for discs to only last 32000 miles? I thought we'd get about 50-60k out of them.

Sounds about right to be honest, the Mini absolutely munches brakes, we’ve had 3 over the last decade and all of them did the same.

Cool, thanks. I must admit it caught me off guard when it had chewed through the rear pads in about ~23k miles. Perhaps I shouldn't be so surprised by the fronts.
