Anybody made a movie, whether professionally or amateur?

Essentially all you need is a script, a few cheap cameras and stands and a few actors, rough draft it out and then if any good, hire some professional equipment?

I guess costs would add up, travel, accommodation, wardrobe etc, but could you not create something decent in a short period of time on a micro budget.

A movie such as kill list could be done like this I would imagine, I guess finding decent actors would be the biggest task?

just completely making assumptions here but I'm not sure it would, especially in places like London

I mean if you had some budget and were paying standard union rates then it ought to be quite straightforwards to find them. It is one of those fields where there is a lot of randomness in who makes it as a professional, it is partly down to looks and/or getting a break in a particular part...

even if not professional there are a whole bunch of students, amateurs etc... there are plenty of good actors in various amateur plays etc.. who aren't paid anything for participating

Just don't. It's not worth the effort and will most likely end up looking amateur.

But ya know, GO FOR IT!

surely depends what he attempts to do, anything involving special effects, green screen of CGI etc.. could potentially look very very dodgy on a low budget

but no reason why the OP couldn't make a short drama or something

I think I read he was using expensive cameras, yes. In that case there must be a lot of moving around and readjusting, filming many seconds long scenes, wouldn't that break the actors continuity and patience?

I'd assume they'd be used to that for any movie, I thought it was mostly some TV shows that were multicamera

Good luck finding good actors who don't want relatively decent pay.

I've got a degree in Film Production and sure, you can get lucky in 1 in 50 and find an actor that's decent and free but to get a few and execute a drama with a good script and have the lighting, cinematography AND editing all on point is something that takes years of experience.

The main thing is that you enjoy it but like I say, any area of production which isn't done to a very high standard is going to look naff. If the end product is just for you to watch for the lolz then go for it.

Your best bet? Make a documentary about something which really matters to you and find interesting / controversial people to interview.

Is editing really such a big deal for a no budget movie, it's cutting and splicing right?

Could you not do this in movie maker, I know a bit about after effects and Vegas pro, however if no CGI is needed then it's fairly straightforward in terms of engineering?
