Any new ultra wides on the horizon?

If these new 200Hz HDR ultrawides are going to cost upwards of £2k, then I'm tempted to get one of the current crop of 120Hz ultrawides. I can't see how HDR and some extra Hz is worth £1k!

Been tempted many times to go for a 100Hz g-sync, just cannot justify it.

My next upgrade will be an g-sync HDR. Anything else would only be a minor upgrade for no reason

I felt the same about gsync but having used it, the premium is worth it. HDR might be another gamechanger.

gsync had a couple of hundred pounds premium though, makes a big difference in almost every game - once you game on gsync/freesync it's almost impossible to go back. HDR could double the cost of the monitor which when you are already looking at around a grand anyway, it's a big price to pay.

HDR is nice and I do want it for certain games but its not quite as essential (thats just my personal opinion) plus i've not tried it on an actual gaming monitor - only the top end LG for a few days on farcry 5

I've been using the PG278Q for nearly 4 years now and while I love it, i'd like to go for a wide option as i'm using my screen for work a lot more these days, i'd also like to move away from TN and while i'm OK paying a higher price for new stuff - I can't help but feel we are going to get bent over a bit on this as HDR is the "in" thing at the moment.

What I don't want to do, is buy now and then suddenly wide g-ysnc hdr is released earlier than expected and its not a total rip off (maybe AOC will save the day)

News reports say that the new Acer and Asus G-Sync 4k HDR monitors will be released this month... though not UW, they will give us an idea of what HDR brings to the table.

Regarding pricing, a reputable seller in Denmark is listing the Asus PG27UQ at 18995 Krone (£2245) and the Acer X27 at 18495 Krone (£2186). They are taking pre-orders on the Asus, with an estimated stock date of 22 May.

Looking at the current models:
£800 Acer 32" XB321HK G-SYNC V2 IPS 4K Monitor
£600 PREDATOR XB271HU 27" 2560X1440 IPS G-SYNC 165HZ
£600 PREDATOR 4K XB271HK 27" 3840X2160 IPS G-SYNC (60Hz)

I believe 4k at 144Hz is new, which will demand a higher price, but I suspect it is the HDR feature that is pushing the prices up with the new models.

Bringing discussion back to UW monitors, 34 or 35 inch UW monitors tend to cost more than 27" 144Hz monitors and 4k models, so I am expecting the Acer Predator X35 200hz HDR and similar UW monitors to be over £2000.
