No, sorry, should have made that clear. Its Portsdown Hill. from the taxi ride up there, there is nothing up there save for this office and an old coastal defence battery. Nice view of the sea from up there too!

There's actually quite a lot on Portsdown Hill, some of it you aren't meant to know about . The best bit up there though is the Royal Armouries large Ordnance museum in Fort Nelson. There are 4 of the Palmerston Forts still mostly standing up there

Your right - i think the place i would be working at would fall under the 'you arent meant to know about' tag, but nothing is set in stone yet, and i dont want to talk about it really (just in case!). As i said, the view is rather spectacular from up there, and the old forts are quite impressive, although i only saw one of them. I'll have to go and have a look at the museum when i head down there next week, thanks for the tip!
I'm in Fareham, at Collingwood. I can't really say there's much to recommend about Fareham itself other than it's not Portsmouth. There's some nice places nearby but Fareham itself is a bit of a hole.

Sorry to revive the thread (bit late in getting back to you ).
Hope you go for the job as when you work in a place that you 'Can't talk about' it don't half make reading this forum far more entertainig at times. Portsmouth can seem like a rough old hole from the outside but I'm biased as it's in my blood, so like any new place you move in to just keep an open mind and take in the history around you (and be thankfull you're near some proper seaside )
My GF is from Portsmouth, took this pic from Portsdown Hill last summer, you can see Gunwharf in the distance. Wasn't much up there on the day we visited, it quite literally is a hill.
