I was thinking of getting one for when tinkering inside the pc. I've seen some LED ones for around a tenner at the usual stores and supermarkets but not sure if they have decent brightness, or if I should try and get a normal bulb tight head torch.

I have one I used when trekking, never thought of using it inside the PC, that's a pretty darn good idea.

I think mine was around £20-£30 and it's LED. Pretty bright.

I've got one in the garage, it was fairly cheap from one of the garages but it helps a lot when doing stuff where you need both hands + a light that is pointing in the right place (really handy when doing plumbing/electrical work etc).

The Duracell ones are pretty good!

We use them on the farm in the winter when the light has gone :p

got a 8 LED jobby that i got from yeomans that i use when i go shooting was only £15 but its a great torch

In the past I was a keen angler and had a headlamp that I modified. The standard battery pack didn't last long so I bought a motorbike battery, put it in a bum bag and wired it up to the lamp.

Merlin5, I have that exact same one (Energiser).

Trust me, it is bright enough. I use mine for sorting out my pc too, makes it so much easier when you have a focused light source.

That Energizer one also has a bright red LED that is also useful inside the pc, as it makes some things more clear/visible (think text on mobo etc).

The design of the head torch strap is often such that you can wear it like a pair of pants, with the light eminating from your crotch. Hilarity ensues.

Excellent! Can't get better than a review from a user. Will go buy it then, it's only £9.99 I think from tesco.

If your going to get a headtorch there is only one company worth looking at, Petzl. French company that make some of the most innovative climbing/caving equipment in the world (look at products like the ASAP or Grigri if people wish to dispute it).

There headtorch range is amazingly high quality, with very bright LED's, I have their single LED Tikka XP and it lasts for around 40 hours on 3 AA batteries at around 35/40 lumen

Check out their range here,

I would go for one of their Tikka range (Tikka XP or Plus), they are great value for the brightness, and they will last forever, take abuse like there is no tomorrow. Take a look at the e+Lite, runs off a pair of watch batteries, weighs a super heavy 28 grams and has a brightness of 16 lumen, brilliant piece of kit for the bottom of a rucksack if out on the hill.
