We're looking to go away for 7 to 10 days in June next year, and Dubai has caught our eye , has anyone been and got an opinion please? Cheers.

I’ll preface this with the fact that I’ve never been. But it strikes me as a totally class-less place devoid of interest, culture, or any redeeming features. On top of that, it was built by trafficked slaves and still has a highly dubious human rights records.

If you want to go somewhere warm there’s plenty of better options.

Hey, you asked…

I've lived very near it april-june (with work) and visited the city a good 10 times. This is essentially how I'd summarise it. It feels fake, and it is fake. It was an interesting experience that I am glad to have had, but I would never pay to go there personally.

And June? Lol. Lmao even. Might as well go to Venus brother. Anywhere outside while the sun is even close to up is completely unbearable for more than a handful of minutes at that time of year.

Jesus please go somewhere more interesting than UAE. It’s so dull and boring, unless you’re into fake beaches, massive malls (with the same shops as here) and not much else.

What about Jordan if you’re interested in the Middle East? WAY more culture and things to see/do. But depends if you want to see things, or just wander around with people from Essex.

Thanks for the replies, I wasn't sure what to expect, but that clears things up, especially about the temperature!

We've just done Egypt, so don't fancy Jordan after that, even though it does look incredible.

Back to the drawing board then, some places look amazing, but are a pain to travel to from my preferred Newcastle airport, thanks again.

I done the same but I think it was July to Oct and damn. 50c some days (and working outside), lost a tonne of weight though. Far too hot for me, unbearably so. Sat inside as much as physically possible.

Didn't particularly like Dubai, but im not rich af. Id imagine if I was id couldve been fun.

The water parks were good mind.

It will be very hot but the pools and sea are always a great temperature and the AC is turbo strength.

Been three times in june and theres a good balance of things to do, luxury hotels etc. It offers good value compared to the Med when you compare the service levels and quality of experience and it isn't overrun with holidaymakers.

There are ethical questions to be asked about Dubai. Personally I'd rather go there than a resort in the Med and get surrounded by tattooed Brits smashing the lagers.

Then again, I'd rather do a hiking holiday in Kenya too...but I'm in my 50s now and have been around the world a few times so there's a place for everything.

As the saying goes "only YOU can decide".

Happy New Year!

June. You’ll live in the pool and air con, very hot. I remember being dropped off at 1am on the wrong side of the hotel and nearly melted walking back. I always enjoyed Dubai, it’s very sterile and showy, but the hotels are decent.

Seems like the kinda place the ‘Love Island’ tropes go to so they can appear affluent.

That's very true. But that's the opposite of me and it doesn't stop me enjoying the place.

My son doesn't stop going on about Atlantis. It has it's own waterpark and aquarium. He thinks we shouldn't go anywhere else :D

There you go, another reason not to go.

I suppose that's a matter of perspective and also depends on the celebrities in question. I met Adam Jones out there. As a huge rugby fan, getting to know a legend like that was a privilege. Others may not know who he was, but then i wouldn't know a fake tanned, Turkey teethed reality TV star if they were right in front of me.

Average high in June of 39°C. That would be bonkers. I haven't been to Dubai, but have experienced 40-45 regularly and there is nothing holiday friendly about it. It's unbearably hot.

Personally, for June, I'd recommend somewhere a bit cooler.
