I spotted the RIMS Racing demo was out on Steam today and gave it a go this evening. (Brand new bike racing game.)

After an initial Meh! (The settings were all on Very High by default, leading to stutter), I found myself enjoying each lap more and better understanding the feedback on offer. Loss of traction, weight transfer - laterally and vertically, surface grip - all there.

It's still two months out from release and already looks/sounds/plays better than the shovelware Milestone has been forcing on us year after year.

The AI is very prone to crashing into you, though. Hope they can fix that by launch.

Early days, but more track time tomorrow, methinks...

Thanks for mentioning it. Just downloaded and tried it out... pretty fun! How are you getting on with the controls and balancing the bike? I think I spent more time lowsiding than I did riding! :D Will need to learn the track properly. I "nearly" saved myself from a powerslide once, nearly. Have you tried the helmet cam yet? That is next level ****!

I tried the demo yesterday and also had lots of stutters. I'm running the demo on an AMD 6900XT. Which I hope is fixed by the time the game is released.

What I really like about this game is that they are only focusing on a hand full of superbikes. So they should be able to tune the feel and power of each bike much better than the likes of the RIDE games. Which has hundreds of bikes.

Thanks, will give it a go.

Only motorbike game (except the motocross/supercross games) I've enjoyed until now is the Isle of Man games (2nd one).

I think I read this is related somehow - same engine or developers. But not 100% sure. The way the head and body rises up (too much) during braking looks the same.

Downloading this too now. The only bike game i've enjoyed recently is TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2 (if you mean this) Will see how RIMS Racing compares

Edit, played the tutorial and a lap of a race. Not really a fan. TT Isle of man - Ride on the edge 2 seems to play much better. The sense of speed isnt quite there on RIMS

You mean to tell me there are games in this Genre other than Super Hang On from the Mega Drive?

I bet none of them are as good though. Upgradable bike components is something I've never seen replicated in any racing game because I guess its considered too complicated for the general racing game player to understand how to purchase new tyres and such.

To me the big problem with moto games and sims, including GP Bikes is that it's impossible to slide the bike in a realistic fashion.
For example, try doing this in GpBikes (TrackDay R, Ride1/2/3/4, MotoGp2021 etc)

Or this (@2:45)

Realistic car games like Assetto Corsa capture this vital part of car physics really well, but moto games are all short :(

I'd agree, but FWIW, I could feel the rear losing traction in this demo and even play with it using the throttle. Not saying I'm a slide god, but it was def there
