any performance gain?

what noticeable differences would I see if I upgrade my 7900GS to a 4870 (faster image loading? image quality? better video...anything at all?)
...and can you spot any other bottleneck???

Everything, three times faster performance for a start.

You will be able to increase the settings in every game as well.

The main difference will be faster performance in games - which will implicitly mean better visual quality since you will be able to increase settings, run at higher resolutions etc.

In newer games at high res/max details/lots of AA/AF, I'd say it will easily be 3x-4x as fast.

Thanks folks for your much appreciated advice...Since everybody seem to agree that I would only see benefits in Games, I think I'll save the money for some other goodies...I have a Dell Ultrasharp 2408 (1900 x 1200) and I was thinking that a 4870 would have made a noticeable difference in overall picture / video quality
By the way, signature has now been reduced to acceptable proportions...

It would improve picture quality and better support for hd

a cheaper option would be a 4650 if you are not to fussed about 3d game power
