Any Performance Increase?

Hi all,

I currently have an Allendale 6300 in an Asrock 775 Dual-VSTA motherboard, it has 2 x 512MB DDR and a 7900GS 256MB PCI-E GFX card.
A lack of funds prevented me from upgrading fully before, now I might just be able to do it.
I was gonna go for Gigabyte DS3 motherboard and Geil 2 x 1GB DDR2 ram. The PCI-E slot in the Asrock is 4x, and the slot in the DS3 is 16x. Will that fact coupled with the increase in ram give me much of a boost at stock speeds? Or should I save my money for now?
I'm interested to hear whether a 7900GS can use the full 16x bandwidth.

Regards,

Col

I doubt the 4x PCI-E slot has a lot of impact, you can run SLI 8800GTXs in an dual 8x board and that isn't any slower than a dual 16x board. So a 7900GS probably won't saturate a 4x slot.

The extra RAM will help in new games, and the new mobo will get much better clocks than the current board you have.

The better quality board will give you a small boost to, aside from the overability which of course will be increasingly better.
