Any point reporting this?

It's great that it's been reported and the report will be on record, fine. But to use it as something to vilify the Police just in case something terrible happens is crass. It serves no purpose other than to say "I told you so, ner ner ne ner nerr".

I can't see why the police couldn't send someone though, they must have some legal responsibility to investigate reports of dangerous driving without the need for someone to be involved in a crash?

Sure the could send someone but what are the chances of them actually witnessing the event - being at the prceise spot to witness and record any indescretion? I would say small to non existant. Unless this guy/gal literally drives this way 100% of the time, doesn't spot the Police car and does it every single day when they're on that particular road. The OP hasn't explicitly stated locations or timescales so we can only speculate on this.

Just too many variables to commit what would likely be several hours of two officers and a traffic vehicles' time.

To be frank, though, it would just be a realistic reflection of the results of such pathetically reactionary policing.

Are you in the police force?

I don't know what you expect the Police to do? Be there every time something against the law happens, ever? It's not going to happen. It's just not a possible or reasonable expectation of a force that is 1. undermanned 2. underfunded and most importantly 3. cannot see into the future.

And before anyone throws the "a copper on the forum sense tingle" comment, no, I'm not. But I do know one or two! :p

You have a very "Us and Them" kind of attitude I don't get that:(

Anyway I think it would be well worth the police time. An unmarked car driving up and down the road for a morning or a Policeman knocking at this home cant be that much of a drain on the Police. If it is I would like to know and I'll GTFO of the UK quick smart.

I don't see it. I just disagreed with a post in here and responded to the rest afterwards. I have an opinion, you have one too, which as it goes is absolutely fine by me! I just write it down as I see it - I'm not forcing anyone to change theirs or bend to mine.

Of course it would be absurd to expect the police to be nearby/watching as every crime ever goes down.

When they're given authentic intelligence regarding a dangerous driver behaving like a complete idiot on a daily basis during a certain timeframe, on what is quite obviously his standard daily commute, that's another matter. It wouldn't be busting their resource bank to get an unmarked car near the relevant roads for a couple of days.
