I have a Laserjet P4515n at work that is squealing every time it prints a page. It starts when the printer initialises and stops once the page has gone through and does the same next print.
It ONLY happens when printing, so just powering up the printer does not cause it.

It has had a maintenance kit and a new toner and am struggling to track down what is causing it and how to cure it as it is driving the users mad!

Any help appreciated.

Andrew

invaraibly its a roller.

Not familiar with the model but the paper pickup will have a roller (usually called a PF roller just above the paper tray) it will probably be this.

An easy test is most printers will have a way of bypassing this roller by feeding single sheets etc. Try that if it works with no squeal replace the above roller (washing it under a tap may also work short term).

+1 on this. I'm not sure what parts the "maintenance kit" consists of, but when we last had issues with one of our Dell MFPs, it turned out to be this. Upon taking the Pickup Feed roller out of the printer, it was rather perished - definitely had taken it's toll after 5 years of printing!

Thanks. I'll have A look at that, although I think the maintenance kit replaces them. Also would they continue to turn whilst the page is printing even after feeding from the tray?

Anyway, getting the screwdrivers out tomorrow and see what I can find!

Just a turn of phrase :)
If it is just the roller we have a draw full of the things.
