Hi I have a gigabyte F2A85XM-D3H motherboard in an unraid server and looking to get a bit more out of it before upgrading in the future, so would like to add a nvme to it and wondered if I could add an expansion card and mount the nvme by that, any help ?
Thanks

From the spec it looks like you have enough lanes, if the second full length slot is free (4 lanes available), since I assume the primary slot has a graphics card?

The only snag is since this is a very old board, my understanding is that you may have problems booting off the drive.

The drive would also need to be backwards compatible with PCI-E 2.0 (I check the data sheets for the drive or controller).

No gpu using the graphics in the chip, will check although unraid boots off the usb stick
