Hi All,

Now, my mate may be talking complete crap here but I'm sure you can confirm...

He says the police can get funny about people keeping their cars under a car cover (which covers the number plates) when it's parked on the street?

Is this true? I've ordered a cover, and don't want £360 going down the pan!!!!

Many Thanks,
Jacob

They can't see the tax disc or number plate so yeah I can understand the police not particularly liking it. Whether it's true or not, who knows!

thats more than my car insurance for this year !!

Does this cover have an inbuilt detailing system that will wash/clay/polish/glaze/wax your car every time you put it on?

What material is it made of?

Please tell me you have not just ordered a £360 car cover for a £2000 Rover?

Phate in "does something daft" shocker :p ;)

I've actually done it for a genuine reason.

Where the car will be parked is a very quiet road, it is covered with trees - this is what it is like - http://www.je-design.co.uk/ir10.jpg - The Saabs paintwork was nion RUINED within 2 weeks of it being there.

So I've ordered the cover as the paint is in very good condition to protect from Sap, Bird crap, debris, and whatever else falls out of the trees. I don't have time to wash it every 2 days. I don't want to ruin the paintwork on it. :)

The cover is so expensive because it breathes so condensation won't build under the cover causing it to rot, it is highly resistant to all of the above, fully washable, comes with a bag to transport it in. It's worth the money :)

EDIT: For an example on the bird poo, have a look for a thread I made "best way to remove bird ****" - got pics in there on what happened to the Saab.

:p - I'll get full details a bit later, when I'm on lunch!

It so isn't. Just wash the car regularly. Heck, £360 could pay for TWO professional details over the life of the car.

Plus I'm pretty sure your friend is right, you can't park a vehicle on the public highway and obscure the tax disc or license plates.

omg! it like, so is! By the time I get home from work, it's dark. Plus I don't have what I need to at the flat to wash it, aaannnd by the time I get home all the car wash places are shut. So only time is the weekend, this isn't regular enough.

Hmm, when I put it on I'll leave the front lip up a bit to show the reg plate, so if anyone has issues they can always contact me! (it's a very quiet road anyway, so should be fine! :D)

IME washing is not enough to get rid of a lot of types of tree sap, particularly when its well dried. Also, if the car's being kept on a street regular washing might not be an option.

Also, I'd question a detail as being professional if it only cost £180.

The only issue you may have then is failure to display your tax disc.

OK, fair enough about the cover... but £360?! £60 maybe. You could buy a big shed to park it in for £360!

You cant justify the price of that car cover, so stop trying. Buy a cheaper one made from the same stuff a waterproof umbro jacket is made out of!!

Do we get these now instead of, 'what about xyz car' and 'i want to buy this (but won't)' threads......

I'm still trying to decide if its a look at me i've spent £300 on a car cover or not thread, don't you think its a bit late to ask?

Spending £360 on a car cover without some sort of decent car being stored underneath is beyond stupid.

/brain dump.
