Any progress in HDD tech in the near feature?

I am considering of buying a new hard disk,but because i am not in a despered need right now (got a sata 120gb), i want to ask if i shall buy a new hard disk now or wait a bit till newer models appear.

If you want a new disk now, buy a new disk now. There is always new technology round the corner but if you wait for it you could end up waiting for the thing after it....

However the next big things are likely to be:

• Hitachi's 7K1000 range, will it be faster than the current Seagates?
• The rumoured 300Gb Raptor, when and how much?
• Solid state drives, they should be faster than mechanical HDDs but still no sign of a date or price
