A mate is ordering the bits for their new PC this week,and after weighing up the pros and cons have decided to go with a R9 280 over a GTX760. The budget sadly does not extend enough to get a R9 280X or GTX770.

Are there any models to avoid?? I think they are looking at the R9 280 TwinFrozr IV. Any good??
 
got the msi r9 280 from here last month &, so far, very happy & glad i opted for it :) (hope, i'm not tempting fate).

was looking for something which would play 'newer' games at a decent setting @1080p (wasn't really looking to max things out). Been playing Shadow of Mordor the last few days (32" screen @1080p) & it looks/plays fine.
 
A while back I bought an MSI GTX 770, an absolutely brilliant card.

Deceptively fast and very quiet. Battlefield 4, TitanFall, Ghosts and CS:GO all ran like lightning @1080p. It all felt so easy and very slick.

With a heavy heart (i feel for the little guy), I would recommend that card over ANY AMD equivalent card. For that sort of price point.

Currently have an ASUS R9 290X, AMD FX-8320 etc, am not biased when choosing my weapons :)
