Just a fun thread to discuss raving culture/scene, if you ever got into it at some point, if so what music?

I started at 19 with underground dubstep, im now 22, moved onto DnB, literally there is no better genre to skank out to :P

Discuss!

Used to love the DnB in the early 2000s, bit of nicky blackmarket!

But around 2008-2011, used to love my bassline.

Since 2011 not really bothered what I listen to as long as its good. usually just have capital radio on.

But cant beat a bit of bonjovi now and then or a bit of radio 2. love all music really me.
Oh god, mentioning bonjovi, in a old music mood now, bit of T.rex - get it on. Right raver me eh!

I'm really open with all music genres, love it all, if its played I aint complaining, i just specifically focus on following Dnb. It's the only genre that can get me going and exhaust me due to my hyper-activeness, 170 BPM goodness :3

I'm guess you're over 30 now, so was big on jungle? Ever listened to sub-genres, like neurofunk? obviously should have heard jump up aswell!

23 actually :D

Old before my time.

Obviously I didn't actually go out raving till I was 15 or so, (I look a lot older than I am, had a full facial beard and reached 6ft in height at 15, and my friends was older than me.)
But me and my friends was definitely into the Dnb big time,
Went to a nicky blackmarket concert/rave thing live when I was 15 it, was fantastic, think its the first time I threw up being too drunk.

Eventually, you also just appareciate the production level and engineering that goes into some tracks, as for neurofunk/dnb, soundboard is so complex on some tunes, its pure skill.
I somewhat hate house music, its generic and all sounds the same a 13 year old bedroom producer could easily produce decent house ;/

Ahh I see, well I wasn't really that big on music or had a sort of passion and culture for it until 2012 or so when my friend took me to my first rave, aswell as my first high...oh lord that night :D Raving defiantly changed my personality in some way, I used to be such a stay a home geeky lad :p

Didn't take long to get to the genre-bashing :p

:D Aye, I used to be the same stay at home kinda guy, till I went out to that rave, then the week after I turned 16, realised I could get into clubs and went out 2 nights per week every week until I settled down at the age of 21 with my missus.

Now im a stay at home kinda guy again.

Odd occasion that we go out, I feel like death for half a week after, no idea how I used to do it night after night week after week.

started off with trance when i was about 16. progressed onto d'n'b and stayed there. 30 now.

I've dabbled in many genre over the past 16 years, and whilst my mixes nowadays are far more eclectic, I just keep coming back to trance, nothing can touch it in terms of how it can make me feel.

haha...during my first year of uni...I went out to a dub/dnb rave, weekly for 4months in a row, whilst getting ON it haha...certainly was a bit of a mistake due to lack of motivation during assignments lol :D I've learnt how to sober 8 hour raves, let the music and atmosphere be your high xD *cheesey comment*

Sigh, so you have been into the scene for like 3 years and you think you know better lol, you know nothing about house music production speaking like that.

Used to enjoy going to Detonate @ Stealth here in Nottingham. I haven't been for 6-7 months now, got kinda bored of always seeing the same lineups (Hazard etc).

Much prefer the smaller venues. I remember seeing Furney & Utah Jazz I think around 2009 at Brownes (now known as Baa Bar) - what a night that was.

I'm part of the golden generation, i was lucky enough to experience the illegal raves of the early 90's, The end of Haçienda, Bowlers on a saturday night and Fantazia. Helter skelter, Kinetic in Stoke, all of the happy hardcore era. Then in the late 90's, it was all about the Trance, gatecrasher, godskitchen etc. Even now i still listen to everything i listened to back then, plus newer trance on DI.FM.
