Hey :)

So I've had this TKL low-profile model, here, for less than a month and in that time it has seen x2 firmware updates. I'm starting to think the keyboard has bugs and Razer are still trying to fix them. I've had x2 support tickets raised for 3 issues.

1. Left-Shift key not responding when switching connectivity methods (i.e. Bluetooth to 2.4Ghz wireless). I have to repeat the process before it comes to life.
2. Onboard profiles do not work over Bluetooth or Wired. They've since informed me that Bluetooth definitely isn't supported. Even though they are saved to onboard memory. That one is a bit of a "meh" from me. Trying to confirm if Wired is the same as it doesn't work for me either. Can flick between profiles OK with 2.4Ghz wireless.
3. Battery life. I had a WTF moment where one day after 1 hours use I'd gone from 90-60% battery. However, recent testing can't replicate this (bug?). From today's testing, when in my Gaming Profile with just 500Hz polling (not 1,000Hz) and 50% static RGB, after 2 hours, I've used 10% battery. I'm monitoring my non-gaming profile which is 250Hz polling and 30% static RGB for default windows use. The whole "up to 980hrs" really does seem like a big con. At that current rate for gaming, I'd be out of juice after 20 hours. And not even pushing the board hard.

I have until the 24th to return this to the rainforest.

Really like the keyboard. Lovely to use. Don't know what to do, give it a chance or return it. If I return it the only other board I like is the Corsair K70 but it isn't low profile so I am hesitant. And I can't find any official info about the onboard profiles and connectivity methods. Corsair do have a 60 days return though!

Any other Blackwidow v4 users having issues?

Ta.

It also is frustrating to see the Razer User Guide makes no mention of settings on battery impact, or expected runtime. Whereas the Corsair User Guide does at the very beginning:
  • Up to 39 hrs with per-key RGB backlighting effects, brightness 100%.
  • Up to 890 hrs with RGB off in 2.4GHz mode.
  • Up to 2400 hrs with RGB off in BT mode.
So in theory at 50% RGB I should get nearly 80 hrs from the K70. Whereas Razer is giving me 20 hrs.

Corsair support have also confirmed Bluetooth is a no no. So slipstream wireless and/or wired use only.

K70 arrived today. Official response in the end from razer was just return the board. Going to see how I get on with full height keys.

That looks mega, you pleased with it?
Yeah it is lovely! I'm getting used to the compact size still, so I occasionally hit the wrong key but not often. Mainly I hit the light button for switching styles instead of the delete key then have to cycle through about 12 options lol. Typing on the brown switches is lovely. Nice thonk, but not clicky. Nice and muted. Everything seems sturdy and solid and even though no shine through caps the white backlight is actually good enough! :) I think it was £99 from Amazon. So it saved me money vs the Razer and Corsair boards.

This Thread peaked my interest as I have recently moved to a Razer Mouse and wanted to go Wireless Keyboard & Razer.. mainly to be “Matchy Matchy”

But I think I’ll stick with what I have for now, I’ve become a mouse snob never mind a Keyboard snob too

I had the Blackwidow v4 TKL, gave up on it after a a week. Found the Razor software buggy, and the wireless connectivity not the best, final straw was when trying to wake keyboard up out of sleep, it sometimes wouldn't. Had the latest software and firmware installed. USB 2.4hz dongle on the windows side was all good, followed recommendations from forums on best settings etc..
