Any reason not to get a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv?

Ive had m-itx for quite a few years now and fancy moving back to m-atx on my next socket upgrade.

After watching linus review the Evolv I thought it was perfect. I dont want any drives visible in the front and I only run a single SSD so is there any reasons im missing on why I should look elsewhere?

Other case that caught my eye is the corsair 240 cube but looks think the Phantek looks better built.

linus review of the case was bad... Side doors do come off and cable management is fine. I have RM 1000 cables on 30cm extensions with 4 ssd.

Its an awesome case had mine since launch. it not that much smaller than a H440 !

Yea bad review but didnt know about it till then as hes the only reviewer I really watch. Since then watched more in depth ones.

Any pics of the gunmetal?

I have a prodigy and it seems not much bigger hight and depth and narrower in the width.

Edit. Went with the white. Thanks.

I'm surprised at that Linus Tech review as its a great case. I bought a white one too, although gunmetal would be nice - especially if it were glossy.
Its a perfect size for what it is, only a few cm taller than my Parvum, just the right width too. My only gripe is a manufacturing defect at the back somebody else mentioned and the cutout to show the PSU should be removed in the next revision.

I'm in the midst of my first watercooling journey so hopefully the case wont dissapoint in that area..

I think the case surprised him with how good it was so yea was a shame it was used for the old school review. Ive seen the gun metal version now and still personally prefer the white.

Ive had a break for a few years from watercooling but im thinking of having another go at it.

Only thing im unsure about is space for rads. Do you know if a 280mm rad will fit in both the front and roof at the same time or is it 1x 280mm and 1x 240mm?

I got a white one a few weeks ago. Its a big case for its form factor but the build is really good. Its heavy, the panels feel expensive.

Very pleased with it so far.

I'm still in the process of building mine, ordered a dual 240 and single 120 Alphacool NexXxos ST30 for it. Will test a pair of Akasa Vipers, NB e-loops and NB M12's for noise on the dual rad then go from there.

From what I can tell the only issue will be pump/res placement, I'm looking at an EK D5 Vario pump/res combo. It would be nice for the mount to be just behind the front fans, but it may be pointless to worry as it would hidden once the side panel is closed. I wonder if they will release a panel with a larger window in the future.

That's what I can see being the biggest headache. I would like to have the res kinda on show so as you say maybe mount it to the front rad. Do you know if there is any restrictions on thickness of rad in the roof? Would a thicker style rad with fans fit without contact with the top of the motherboard?

Edit just read site. 68mm room in roof.

I'm hoping the removable drive bay grill will enable a Bitspower pump heatsink to be secured using the holes, the only downside is this could limit card length. Unless the res could be mounted horizontally onto a front fan/fan fitting?

I'm surprised at 68mm room in the roof, I think that would be too big taking maintenance and cable routing alterations into account. Saying that a packed interior done neatly done have a certain aesthetic value.
I chose 30mm rads for more flexibility plus quietness is my number 1 goal, which is another strength of this case, its very good at noise reduction. I have it on the desk next to me and with a silent profile its just as quiet as my Define R4.

What colour scheme are you looking at? I was thinking white, black and yellow. White, black and blue would also be a cool option too.

Its hard to say without having the case in front of me how it would work but there are brackets like these that attach to fans to allow mounting of pumps and res's.

The 68mm in roof was total space so radiator and fans. Looks like max rad thickness is 40mm if you want to use fans so the thinner style rads seem only option.

What are you planning to cool in your loop?

Colour scheme I haven't really thought too much into it but I really like the hard clear tubing with the mayhems fluid that reflects with light. Tbh I will probably everything nickel or white. Im waiting for Intels skylake before changing my itx board to matx so I dont want to pick a colour that might clash with a new motherboard.

I'm cooling a CPU (490K) and single GPU, looking to pick up a new card in the next month or so undecided between OCUK ref 970 or MSI 290x lightning, I dont overclock. I'm watercooling for the quietness, aesthetic and sheer curiosity.

This will be my first watercooled build so I'm going to steer clear of acrylic tubing for the time being. I like the bling of nickel myself so I'll prob spend more than I should on fittings. Not sure whether to go for clear or matte black tubing.

After following James Walt's builds I've noticed how he uses existing designs as a base point for his builds, the Evolv looks like a sports car to me so I might try theme based on a Ferrari Italia 458 or Audi Quattro.

I have a Gryphon with the armour, considered spraying it red, with nickel fittings and black matte tubing but not sure if it could look tacky.

Just looked through his builds. Very nice builds and photography. Do you now what thickness of rad is ok for the front?

I guess it will ultimately effect video card length.

40mm max for the front, OCUK do a system based on the evolv, they use XSPC crossflow rad in the top and a multiport in the front, each is 121x35.3x290mm. They've positioned the pump in the space where the hard drive bay is located, take a look:

It looks like the Res is behind the front rad.

Yeah James knows how to put together a great build, I like how they are so detailed and harmonized.

Hi mate, havent had the chance to knock up a quick diagram.

I've measured the interior in rather than the overall case:
360mm wide
315mm height
300mm height front fan/rad section
140mm wide front fan/rad section

The front fan section is the front of the case where a rad or fan could be placed. My alphacool 240 rads arrived which are 30mm height. A push pull would be possible in the front but not the top, depending on the card.
