I am currently a photographer working for myself with a studio. Been doing a good bit of work for oil companies in the North Sea of late. When i lived in London a few years ago i worked as a freelancer as bascally a pap.
Used to work as a photojourno and wedding photographer up here in Scotland but got bored of the crap and pay really.. Due to my ties with the RAF (served with them) I recently traveled to Afghanistan for a week to get a few images over there and want to do that sort of thing again sometime!
A lot of the guys I qualified and worked with have moved to the big cities to work for Getty/AP etc. So i tend to find out the camera goss. Like one of the reasons the 1DMK3 was so delayed was the unprecedented demand from photo agencies (who have first dibs) for stock after they did their pre-release testing.
I was at the Di concert last night with the wife just as a "concert goer" but got to speak to a few friends that were working in and outside of the venue.. thats where i caught some of the goss about the 1DSmk2 not being all that popular of late. I saw a few of them but i also saw a good few mk3's and nikons! Make of that what you wish (in the last few years at most concerts/non sporting events photographers would have been mostly all equipped with 1dsmk2's)
Mostly using a 5D as my 1DN2 died awhile ago, have a mk3 on order (still!) and use a 30D for when i need a 1.6x

I've used a 1DSmk2 for a considerable amount of time over the years, although never actually owned one, thats the problem I'd use one, but for the lack of benefits over a 5D I'd find it hard to justify the cost when i could order two 1Dmk3's for the same price, buy another two 5D's or even get a MF digiBack for slightly more.
