Any Recent Buyers of the 8700K Feeling Buyer's Remorse?

Probably not due to the 2700X but due to the upcoming 8-core Coffee Lake. But anyway the 2700X plays a role pushing out Intel's 8-core Coffee Lake.

Well, AMD are making Intel push the boat out more but if people see that as AMD's purpose then they ain't going to be able to keep that up for long, they need a return on their investments just as much as Intel do.

Look at whats happened in the GPU space, for the last decade people were happy that AMD were competitive but that was only because it kept nVidia's prices in check, now AMD are out of money and don't make serious GPU's anymore.
 
Nope, I'd argue that most 8700k owners are gaming as this is where they excel. And they are still beating anything else available. So no remorse here.
If I had bought an 8700k to run cinebench then maybe :)

There are more than one way to run Cinebench :) 8700K may still be the best for Cinebench single-thread, while Intel Xeon Platinum 8180M and AMD Epyc 7601 can do very well in Cinebench multi-thread.

Cinebench is indicative of all render applications, like Cinema 4D its based on and a whole lot more professional applications besides.

Ryzen is extremely powerful, much more powerful than Coffeelake, of course lite workloads do a little better on coffeelake but actually there is a whole world where there is no such thing as lite workloads.

Photoshop is still the number one standard in photography editing software. Affinity Photo may be an alternative solution. For both of these, when you execute certain commands such like layer alignment, only single-thread performance matters, and you'll see only one core busy dealing with it while all other cores slack around. Throughout the entire workflow, single-thread operations may take up most of the time (bottleneck), and hence overclockability may become the decisive factor for efficiency.
 
It’s great for them, all the more enthusiastic overclockers have to void their warranties.

I've always been curious whether Intel truly bothers to identify de-lidding of RMA'ed chips? As far as I understand, if re-lidding is done properly, then it's very hard to tell unless Intel de-lids it again and does some glue and thermal mats analysis?

Photoshop? people who take wedding snaps use Photoshop, you photoshop on a socket 478 Pentium, a Tablet, it makes no difference, i'm talking about proper 2 and 3D work, do you actually know what Maxcon do? what that application you use to test the performance of your CPU actually is? its this.

Stacking and stitching are commonly used in landscape photography. In this example and this example, it took hours to align, stack and process 64-256 frames with a 4.8GHz Skylake. With Ryzen it would take longer to complete, because the bottleneck would be single-threaded commands.

Photoshop is the de facto industry standard in raster graphics editing. Portrait, landscape, fine art, architecture, commercial, food, watch etc all uses Photoshop.
