Thinking of SLI'ing my 970 G1.

However I remember swearing that I would never go SLI again, after SLI'ing my 670's. Hot, loud and stutter is all that was introduced.

However the Witcher 3 is making me think I need to beef things up a bit.

How is people recent experience with SLI since the turn of the year?

I'm toying with SLI myself, undecided as for each happy owner I read about, I soon find another with issues.

A mate of mine has two GTX 480's in SLI on an old Q9550 system, it runs GTA V and Battlefield 4 beautifully at very high settings (1080) and it's seeing his system in action that's swaying me toward a second GTX580 and SLI capable motherboard / CPU / RAM bundle when I eventually upgrade.

Considering its a 580 maybe a newer single gpu would offer the better performance but at a bigger cost.

I am not a fan of SLI. I am very susceptible to microstutter and noticed it when I went SLI in quite a few games.

Had SLI for about 6 months, first with 970's then with 980's. Can't believe how superb and trouble free its been. Wish I had done it ages ago.

Had stuttering issues a while back, but after a few driver updates things were grand. Cant say what it's been like lately though as i havent been gaming a lot.

Think I may grab another 980 if they drop in price when the TI is released, always wanted to try it out.

Was just wondering I currently have a multi-monitor setup, how is that effected when I want to game? will the extra screens disable automatically?

Nop its the same as having 1 card. I was running 3 screens back in the day and was a smooth experience with SLI.

Using SLI 970s here as well and haven't had any issues!

Oh, apart from COD which has now been sorted!

Indeed it would, but, I'm reckoning another second hand GTX580 for ~£50 ish in SLI is going to give me as much performance in GTA V & BF4 etc as a newer single card solution, I'd rather throw the lions share of my upgrade budget at a decent SLI capable MOBO / CPU / RAM bundle and utilise the SLI as mentioned and in the future, as funds allow, then get a better single card and subsequently SLI that if & when the need arises.

My wf 670's were great in sli, but they were in a much better spaced board than the formula which houses my 780's. Seen the top card hit as much as 85c.
