Any rice cooker recommendations?

My rice cooker has just broken after 8 years of use. Was considering buying another of the same model but wondered if it was worth spending a bit more on a better model?

My current model is ok, given it’s only £30, but it does burn the rice at the bottom slightly as it’s prone to sticking!

Any other recommendations ?

One with Fuzzy Logic. Zojirushi if you have the money.

The first part is critical, otherwise it’s a very dumb heater with a sensor that switches off when it reaches a certain temperature. That’s the one you had, which is why it burns. The way it does it is it heats up max and boil the water until all the water is gone and trips the sensor. The proper way to cook rice isn’t this brutal way but more gentler and slower.

Not familiar with these, I remember lots of Asians had them at university but never understood their advantage over using a pan with a lid on a low heat.

I love rice though so might read up more. Another gadget, just what I need!

It's just easier, gaurnteed good rice every single time. The rice is probably better, depending on how awful you are at cooking but it's just consistent.

I've had a RH multicooker for 11 years and it's served us well. My wife is Filipino (and I'm of Indian descent) so we know what good rice is and it's cooked in our house at least 3 to 4 times a week once you find the correct ratio it works fine. The rice (Jasmine) comes out perfectly every fine. They're cheap and cheerful and spending hundreds of pounds on a rice cooker won't yield results that are incrementally better with the extra money you pay. Having said that when I replace it I'll buy a yum Asia rice cooker.

Rice cookers are great. Does different kinds of rice perfectly every time. Never worry about it going bad, overcooking, undercooking or boiling over.

I got Bamboo UMAI Induction Heating IH Ceramic Rice Cooker which works fine. I would have bought a zojirushi but god damn they are expensive over here.

I also bought a bamboo, totally perfect rice everytime and so easy to clean.

Been cooking
Thai jasmine 1.25 water to 1 cup rice works well any more and it's too wet imo
Brown Basmati 2cups water to 1 cup rice

Always rinse the rice 2-4x
I just put it in the rice cooker bowl in the sink fill it, stir the rice 30x, pour the water out and repeat until the water looks pretty clean.

I got this one last year, going strong 2 or 3 times a week.
