Any 'set' dates for next components... or buy now?

Hi,

I had to sell my new-ish PC last month for some extra funds but just landed a new job so I'm in a position to buy one again soon... at the moment whilst I have a powerful PC to use at work, at home I'm using an old AMD 64 3500+, 1GB RAM, nVidia 6200 256MB TC :rolleyes:

Does anyone yet know release date(s) for the upcoming Intel Quad processors (Yorkfield?) and the upcoming nVidia high-end graphics cards (9800gtx?)? I've seen so many different dates I have absolutely no idea if any of them have any solid information or are just rumours. Originally I thought the Q9450 was definitely being released on the 20th Jan 08, but recently I've seen people mention March 08, or Q2 08 - I wouldn't mind waiting until the end of january but no longer.

If neither of those are coming in January I'll just buy now (Q6600 + 8800 GTX), any ideas what's best to do?

Congratulations on the new job :)

Looking to upgrade in jan myself so depending on the dates of new releases i will be in exactly the same boat as you.
 
Congrats on the new job, jost got a new contract myself after being made redundant, it feels good :)

Yorkfield has been delayed, because Intel have decided that AMD aren't in the little bit scary with their quad cores, so they are just going to watch the Q6600s sell like hot cakes, and just sit on a beach in california drinking cocktails :cool:
