Any steering wheels that uses analog shifter paddles?

Hi Phil

Just tried f1 2012 with my Logitech G27, i changed the thottle to right red top button and brake to paddle that sits behind, all worked fine, and that was with my pedals and shifter plugged in, in fact it felt pretty good.

Are try f1 2013 for ya tomorrow:)

Can see why you like the look of that Ferrari wheel Phil since theres more buttons on the right side unless you can find one on show in a shop the only way to find out is buy one my wheel has 3 buttons either side so proberbly not suitable for you , besides that its obsolete anyway but my mate got one on ebay for £20 like new

The momo's button placement is very similar to my ms wheel and not a very natural position for your thumb to reach the 3 buttons if holding the paddle down. Plus my ms wheel rips your finger apart when holding down the shifter paddle, as its one of those smallish buttons with not very nice edges.

I came across this wheel last night, that would be even better as its got buttons on top and underside of the wheel, but it uses rubbish suction cups to hold it to the desk,, so no good at all:mad: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GC-004-SL&groupid=702&catid=288&subcat=353

Maybe I have bigger hands than you but the paddles behind the wheel are proberbly also bigger than your ms wheel and my thumbs can reach the buttons fine when im using the paddles , then again have use of both my hands so only you would know if its doable for yourself
keep looking im sure you will find the perfect compromise somewhere.....

Yeah,, the main prob is that I use accelerate and brake with 1 hand,, so having the brake button that around the edge of the wheel is more of a natural place for your thumb to rest, then to reach across and down to the buttons in the centre of the wheel, if you get me.

I have a Steelseries Simraceway wheel and I use it occasionally for the odd game of Race 07 and it shows no sign of wear or damage...maybe you got unlucky?

I also know someone who used a Xbox 360 wireless speed wheel and he said it worked fine on PC. Looks similar to the Simraceway except its wireless.

ah so the hunt goes one :D

That thrustmaster Ferrari GT experience is a pretty decent wheel, shame it has no FFB though :(

but it doesn't have analogue shifters :( so would you use the shifters normally and then just have an all or nothing acc/brake using the R and L buttons around the wheel rim? wonder if it would be possible to swap out the button switches for the ones on the PS3 conterollers as they are analogue (or atleast have a few stages for varying levels of pressure)

just wondering, seeing as I have that thrustmaster wheel as my first but now haf a logitech DFGT. If you were interested in the wheel and think you'd be happy I'm sure we could come to some arrangement ;)

but still good luck in the hunt :D

I might give the xbox wheel ago first if it works fine on the pc and strap it to my ms wheel like I did with the simraceway. If im not happy with the xbox wheel I might take you up on your offer on the thrustmaster GT Sasso.

Well guys I bought the GT wheel from ebay about 3weeks ago, only been used once and got it for £21. Ive been fairly impressed with it, its still not perfect but at least I could play f1 again.....

BUT last night it broke after about 20hrs of playing f1,(what a surprise hey) the right shifter paddle slowly got harder to press. It still worked but a lot of force is needed to make the switch click, Ive tried to take it apart but something still holding the wheel together even tho all screws are out.

Im SOOOO peed off, I only want to play F1 FFS.. Maybe I should just give up with F1:mad::(

I've asked on GT Planet for you. Without modding the shifters using a potentiometer I don't see how this is possible. But if you join the site and contact mrbasher he can suggest some ideas for you as he has had similar requests.

Not simply. However, I have helped a few folks out in similar situations using a variety of methods. One guy had a joystick he connected through one of my SFA1 adapters. I only charge my cost for this kind of thing, no labor/time. Everyone deserves to race. Please have him/her contact me through the contact form on my website.

Contact him here: http://www.basherboards.com/

Have Logitech, Fanatec, Thrustmaster, Mad Catz etc responded to you yet? The Sim racing wheel or the wireless speedwheel although it does work, won't offer any ffb so I can see how this must be frustrating.

Ive just sent him a messege explaining about my situation and all wheels I try, just keep dying on me. Ive also said that I might be able to buy another simraceway wheel, if he could do something with the paddles, to stop them braking after xx amount of hrs. So we will have to see what that brings;) Thanks majnu

Hope it all works out for you. Did you know that you could get adapters to use with a G27/G25, instead of using zip ties?

This way you can still have ffb & rumble effects. No idea on price, but there will always be some modification required if you're up for the task. ;)

Nice,, wonder if that will work on the Microsoft force feedback wheel as I love how it secures to the desk so quick and easily.

But Id would love to buy another simraceway wheel and get this guy to strengthen the paddles, as that is the perfect wheel for me, but I think the wheel has gone up in price quite a lot since buying mine 2 yrs ago.

I think my old Guillemot Ferrari wheel had analogue shifters. I am sure I used it at my desk without the pedals before I bought a MoMo.

It's still in the loft in pretty much mint condition. If I get a moment I will check it.

*edit* It's this one http://hem.bredband.net/rattsidan/guillemot/ferrari force feedback racing wheel/rev-gfff.htm

The review confirms there are 4 paddles, 2 digital and 2 analogue. It was a fantastic wheel, don't really know why I replaced it. I managed to get it working under windows 7, thrust master bought them out and used the same internals on some of their wheels so you can use their drivers. I haven't tried it on windows 8.

If it's of interest I can stick it in MM.

Ah that might do the job, as its got 2 right thumb buttons I can use for KERS and DRS. But the big question is how long will it last, another 20 hrs or so no doubt and how much do you want for it? Yeah I might get banned for saying that, but come on moderators have a heart:D

I sent you a trust message by the way, but I haven't had a reply. Is your email up to date on there? If you are interested in the wheel let me know and I can stick it on Members Market.
