Any talk of AOE4 ??

I doubt it, Microsoft disbanded Ensemble Studios.

No doubt to work on some xbox trash .

Tbh AOE will never be as good again due to 3d... 3D ruined the age of series, AOM was acceptable but downhill from aoe2 and aoe3 was a joke... What went into them to go from Historic wars/campaigns/scenario's to fantasy land (AOM and AOE3) :( ?

Still, what a shame Ensemble studio's is gone :(. They really changed PC gaming for me with AOE and AOE2.

How can a gamw with the history of AOE not be carried on !! is there no way some one can buy the rights etc ??

Sad news for me !!!! then again there is all ways Total war !

ahh age of empires the age of kings...best rts i ever layed my eyes on, tis one of the first games that got me into pc gaming and aye aoe3 was a joke >.<

MSN gaming zone.

Afaik no more AOE2 support there.

You can still use Gamespy for matchmaking for AOE2 though or just connect by directip with your mates.

On September 9, 2008, it was announced that Ensemble will be closing after the release of Halo Wars. According to multiple independent reports, all non-essential staff have been laid off and remaining staff have been given incentives to remain until the completion of the project. Microsoft issued an internal statement on September 10, 2008 which was then leaked to the public. As reported on the Ensemble Studio blog in late 2008, the company shut down on January 29th, 2009. It was also stated that there are at least two new studios being formed by ES employees. In February 2009 former Ensemble Studios head Tony Goodman started a new independent studio, Robot Entertainment, and a number of the existing employees have been offered a position in this company.
Following the annoucement of Robot Entertainment, former Ensemble Studios producer David Rippy started a new independent studio, Bonfire Studios, comprised entirely of former Ensemble staff members.

If I remember correctly one of the 2 studio's in under Microsofts Banner and they have said they will continue patching Halo Wars and continue on other projects and AOE was hinted at.

There's a place called International Gaming Zone that basically emulates the old one Microsoft had, and there's still a big community playing Age of Conquerors there (~1800 online currently).

whoa thanks, I didn't know about that site, happy times ahead with AOE2 again, can't wait to play blood scenario's again online with others, stuff like castle blood, small blood, and otehr things like art of defense, various RPG's, etc :D. Or some competitive random map games :). Used to play aoe2 for years in a clan in the old days :D.

AoE-3 was the biggest flop in gaming history..... well ok maybe not the biggest but it has to be up there, AoE-4 would have to be one hell of a game to shake off the AoE-3 stigma,

Still play AoE-2 with friends when we all get together. Back in the good old days at college we all use to download the demo from the MS website and play over their network, shame you had to downloaded it every time you logged out :(
