Any tips to get Baldurs gate working on windows 7?

all i get is a black screen pop up then it sits in the task bar and wont do anythign else

thanks for the replies, ive carried on messing around with it and it seems to be working, if very buggy to start with.
i have to try to close the game down in the taskbar, when it pops up to ask are you sure, i click no and it loads up

Shame you couldn't get two as well +exp , then join them together for a full set story experience

have tried getting number 2 and expansions for all of them on the cheap
only managed the first so far. and having never played them before didnt want to spend loads just incase i didnt enjoy it.

Buy it from GOG. Worth paying just to get a fully patched and working version.

as above, want to see what the first one is like really first, but its somethign to consider in the future.
is the version from GOG able to be joined together?

whilst im here, is there a quest log in the game? somethign to actually track quests and not just the mishmash that is the journal?

The original is so much more enjoyable played through the Baldur's Gate II engine. Worth it for the increased resolution alone.

the only peeve i have atm is just the poor way the quest log/journal works.
i cant see how you can get an idea of the quests you have to do/completed etc?

ive only got the first game at the moment, with no expansions. is it worth trying out one of these mod things? would be great to just get a quest log/tracker or any sort of indication of quests to be completed.
