Any tips to get Baldurs gate working on windows 7?

I can't remember what vanilla BG was like in that regard, (was over a decade ago I last played it that way, have used modded versions lately).

I'm playing BG with The Big World Project and it has quest tabs in the journal listed by chapter and they come under the 'completed quests' tab once done. I don't know if that is changed by the BWP and the conversion to the updated engine.
 
ive only got the first game at the moment, with no expansions. is it worth trying out one of these mod things? would be great to just get a quest log/tracker or any sort of indication of quests to be completed.

Here's a couple of sites to check out what's available. Most BG mods are for Tutu (that's 'to 2' meaning conversion to the BGII engine) but there are some available for the vanilla game. Saying that...I think you need the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion for most.

Edit: Having checked, the organised journal is one of the enhancements of BGII.
