Is there any Micro ATX board which supports Core 2 Quad Core processors? I want to get a system now but want to know that I can pop in a Quad core when the prices drop.

Thanks

i take it uatx is micro atx then? you learn something new every day:)

The abbreviation uATX is used as well as mATX. It's technically not a "u" as such, it's just the closest thing to the sign for "micro" which has a long tail.

Why is it poor?

No PCIe lock, so the board craps out very quickly. Nothing really in the way of overclocking options either. And it's not even THAT stable at stock settings.

You're best off having a look around the Asus support forums, there are a number of bad stories on there about this board, and some aren't even overclocking. Some won't boot, and the board also seems really picky about what RAM you give it and in what slots.

It might get improved in a BIOS release, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The Asrock Conroe 945G-DVI is easily the best Conroe motherboard out, as it doesn't overclock particularly better than any of the others, but at least it's 100% rock solid stable out of the box.

Do any of the Intel micro ATX cases support Quad Core?

Cases?

The case matters in that it must be capable of providing good airflow to cool a Quad-Core, but there's no official "support" for cases as such.

I'm about 97% sure there isn't yet, I don't think Intel will bother adding quad-core support to the 945 chipset, and VIA haven't got around to adding support to their chipsets yet, which covers what most of the mATX Conroe boards are based on.

The 965 boards for mATX are due over the next few weeks/months.

eh ?, I already got an MSI g965m running here, but it doesn't support quad if thats what you were referring to.

the gigabyte GA-965G i think it is, supports quad core cheaper than the asus for a better product imo

here is one version

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...board&ProductID=2414&ProductName=GA-965GM-DS2

That does look like a very nice board, has SPDIF too! But why do they have to put the PCI-express 1X on the end of the board, not next to the X16 as a dual slot graphics card would render a PCI slot un-usable, rather have the X1 PCI-express slot unaccessable.

And when will Overclockers be selling this?

spdif is on board not an external as far as I can see, my msi has the same spdif which makes me think there isn't much real difference in any of the 965 matx boards atm
