any way to boost a poor signal in the house?

I get a dire signal in our new house. only get a signal at the window. im thinking the walls are quite thick. even the wifi doesnt get through more than 2 walls!

is there anything i can put in the phone that isnt just a gimmick?

My phone is a shody galaxy nexus.. im hoping this phone has a poor signal in comparison to other phones..ie. i can get a new phone to help the issue

any ideas?
 
What network are you with? It could be just poor coverage around your new house? Have you got any other phones on different networks to check with?
 
Some networks do microcell/picocell type repeaters that use your internet connection as a backhaul i.e. Vodafone Sure Signal but if wifi is a problem indoors they might not work too well.

My partner is with o2 and has same problem

One of the reasons I wanted to avoid a personal cell is that our landline internet is 1megabit and my 3 net is 3megabit.. Shocking
 
I'll have a look at that.

I will however need to stay on 3 and find a way to improve the signal as it'sthe only way I can watch inet tv
 
With any of the boosters they will use the Internet for back-haul. So 1mbit might be fine for voice calls or sms from one phone, if iplayer is being used elsewhere it could prove problematic..

Are you certain your Internet speed is as fast as possible?
