I've seen a couple of reviews of these getting up to 4ghz. Sound like great budget chips! Anyone know about release date or price?

I did'nt expect these to be a Pentium Dual core seeing as the E4*** series is a Core2Duo. $84 is a good price but no doubt we will end up just substituting the $ sign for a £ sign.

If these are well priced (less than £65) I will almost certainly feel the need to upgrade my Opteron 146.:)

Get your wallet out then. :D

Just found them in stock for £54.92 which is a very good price. Much more attractive than the E2200 which is actually more expensive in some places. Wolfdale core and twice the cache of the E2200 too. I might get one myself to replace the E4300 in my second rig. I need something new to play with. :D

I've just found that as well, may use it to replace my E4500. Does anybody know how easy it is to flash the BIOS on the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R? I need to do this to allow it to take 45nm. I won't have to reformat or anything after flashing will I?

Should'nt be any harder than any other board. Just don't use the windows flashing software. No you won't have to reformat/re-install. Just clear cmos and redo all your settings.

Ok cool. Also, I think that there are a number of BIOS revisions that have been released since I bought my board. I am on revision F4. Say I want to get to F9, will I have to flash through F5, F6, F7 and F8 first, or can I just go straight to F9?

Hi.... You can go to straight to F9...It will contains all the previous updates.

Just had a look over at XS and that 4.3Ghz run was done with almost 1.7v. Far too high. It also will not do 4Ghz with 1.5V. Seems like a max of 3.2-3.6Ghz with a realistic voltage (1.4v). Low fsb's though due to the 12.5 multiplier so you only need pc2 6400 ram at the most. It's going to make for a nice budget gaming pc. A much better option than the E2180/2200.

Hmm fair enough. That looks a bit odd as he is doing that on air!! Apparently these have been released in Aus for the last couple of weeks and people have hit 4ghz-they dont say what voltage they have put through it though...

EDIT: http://forum.coolaler.com/showthread.php?t=184386

here is one at less than 1.4v

I'm not saying that I dont believe that report, more that it seems a little high! Probably worth finding out a little more before buying!

So are these much better than the E2***? What are the differences and is the overclocks much higher/easier/less voltage?

Just bought a 2nd hand retail E2200 for £35 and getting buyers remorse - should I go for the E5200 instead?...

Any particular week/batch thats come out good for overclocking?

EDIT: OTOH with the E7200 around £75 is that a better bet? Im buying while I wait for the E0 C2Qs to turn up...

ps3ud0
