Anybody else realised the ugliest cases are the best for features?

So in my continual hunt to keep up to date on cases etc, I've realised something...

The best cases out there for interesting features, are always the ugliest?

To be fair, I mean by this, that there are no sleek, subtle cases that have buckets of features?

The notable cases in terms of sleek, elegant design at the moment:

Lian Li:
Bitfenix Shinobi XL
Corsair 650D
Corsair 800D
Silverstone TJ11
Fractal R3

Are all pretty solid, pretty good cases. They have a number of features, but nothing that truly stands out.

On the other side though, the CM Storm Trooper, and the NZXT Switch 810, are absolutely packed full with features. Fan controllers, directed fans, masses of watercooling support, and so much more.

It just seems that the cases that are uglier or even more 'gaming' based, just have so many more features than the sleeker cases.

So why are there no manufacturers out there to create an incredibly elegant, incredibly feature packed case?!

Personally, I don't think ugly is the right word, I hate plain looking cases, always been a fan of the Acer Predator case, but anything by CM or Corsair is pretty good IMO

It's a tough balance isn't it, but I see where you're coming from. If you want a sleek minimalist case like the R3, you compromise with it not being as feature packed as some flashy cases.

I don't like that R3 case at all, it looks way too plain, I prefer the way the CM HAF's or Storm Trooper look

I think id rather keep it like, but that is only because I wouldnt want to touch it. I am not into modding just yet. I wouldnt know where to start.

Still learning about water-cooling.

For the record, for 'gaming cases' the CM Storm Trooper is head and shoulders above the rest.

NZXT Switch competes, but doesn't quite follow that more aggressive styling.

in own opinion i dont like cases that a just square metal plain boxes i like mine to have a bit of shape to it as it has more to the imagination and plus i like windowed cases aswell.

I wish they would make an updated version of the silverstone FT02, thats an elegant case with decent features, awesome bottom to top cooling as well.

yup, ft02 and the rv02 have some pretty good features and can fit a massive 3x180mm rad :o

but I do understand where you're coming from, as I have an r3 and I have had to mod it to fit a rad in, but I do like cases like the storm trooper :)
