Anybody else thinking Origin is ok now or is the hate still strong?

Theres nothing wrong with Origin, its just a centralized location for all your EA games. I'm sure you would prefer then then have to keep hard copies of your games to re install them...

The only thing I would like to see is a proper game backup system offered*. Whilst my Internet isn't slow (77Mb), re-installing from a backup is much quicker.
*This may not be a thing, I haven't checked / bothered to look.

You can re install from a backup :)

its fine. sits there, doesn't error at me, updates on its own. Gives me free games.

Cant complain. Had a bit of an issue after putting bf4 files on my ssd, where it said i didn't have any of the expansions etc.. can't remember if i fixed it or if it still moans, not played recently.

I have no problem with origin, but I do have an issue with EA for not releasing their games through steam. Even UBIsoft can manage that.

I think it has come a long way and hopefully Ubisoft will get into gear and improve Uplay in the years to come. Much better to have a few game clients, it would never be good for Valve to have a monopoly.

The loss of UN/PW is very annoying for a casual gamer like myself who wants a quick round of BF4 every once in a blue moon.
Exactly. I rarely use it as much as I did mainly because everytime I'd start the thing, it would update and then ask for my credentials which I've always had a nightmare remembering.

also i managed to bag like 7 free games ages ago with an origin cart error. Burnout paradise/mirrors edge, some golf one, etc. Can't complain really :P

I initially hated Origin when it was new as it was crash prone and slow to respond, I have never felt compelled to buy anything on Origin so I've never taken the game prices on board.

I also remember everyone hated Steam when it had just come out.

It has never crashed in ~2 years, it's slick and it takes a second to load. Free BF3, along with lots of other games, plenty of discounts. What's there to hate?

Starting to warm to Origin now. Some good prices, free games each month. Think that might be a regular thing now.

Not even Steam has ever given away full free games before..

Anybody else thinking Origin is ok now or is the hate still strong?

But Steam has given away full free games before so that is wrong.

Red Orchestra 2 & Sniper Elite V2 come to mind this year.

Origin isn't bad but I still don't like EA that much!

Aside from playing Dragon Age 2 (:o), I haven't actually used Origin in months. And until EA unleash DA: Inquisition and Sims 4, I doubt it'll be used till then either. Rather redundant bit of software imho.

More to the point, EA simply don't make the sort of games that interest me enough to use their overpriced service. I couldn't imagine browsing it regularly as I do with Steam.

I wish all games were sold on both Origin and Steam, that way I would not have to install both to play the games unavailable on Steam.

I feel Steam is generally superior at the moment, but it has been around longer.

You can return EA games which is already an improvement on Steam who don't accept any returns >.> go go customer service

I have no need for it, I play one game; BF and I'm uninterested in pretty much everything else that EA has to offer..... for now.
Instead, I use outcome a lot lighter on system resources too.
