Anybody else who has never had an interest in fireworks?

I've never shown any interest in fireworks or Bonfire Night and I've never spent 1p on such things.
Likewise my own children have never been interested and come bonfire night I would tempt them with £20 each to go shopping instead of seeing money go up in smoke.
My own parents did the same but probably bribed me with a copy of the Beano.
During my early teens I did the wood collecting and making a gang hut before setting it alight but basically always looked at fireworks as being a waste of money.
My next door but one neighbour always spends £1000 on fireworks just to see them go up in smoke - I really don't understand it especially when he can't afford stuff.
What is the actual thrill?
If somebody said I could go off to a field somewhere, pay £50 and blow lots of stuff up then that would be tempting.

Anybody else feel like me?

I would never spend money on them myself, as I agree, it is a lot of money for something that lasts for about 3 seconds.

However I do enjoy watching them at other peoples expense. :)

I'm not interested in them, and didn't go to see any this year. I haven't been to a display since I was a child. I also view them as a complete waste of money, and would never buy any myself.

I used to when I was a kid, and then I lived with someone who had a dog who was utterly petrified and would spend "bonfire fortnight" hiding under the bed, shaking. 4 years of that put me off them, and now I detest them.

Since I had to move back home with my parents, they have a dog who isn't scared in the least, he wants to kill the fireworks......every....last.....one. So he spends the whole time barking and generally going nuts, to the point where the only thing we can do to subdue him is put his fabric muzzle on, and that at least calms him down a bit.

Its so utterly annoying, and fireworks cant be gone soon enough.

I rarely go to see fireworks these days, more often than not I completely forget that it's nearly upon us and it then turns out to be too late even if I did want to go to see a display.

This year I simply opened the shower room window and watched someone elses for a few mins, very pretty I must say. :p

I do like the colourful, dazzling effects they give but that idea soon fizzles out when I consider the cash side. :D

I used to like them when I was a kid - but not now -- Totally doesn't bother me whether we get them or not :p

Spent £10 this year on 17 fireworks and 5 rockets, and that is only because we had a tonne of wood to burn and we had a few young 'uns coming round so were mainly for them...though at that price it was funny as to how crap they were :p

I think it's called getting old :p

I have to agree on buying them yourself though but displays are cool especially when you can watch them for free!

I liked them more as a child but there's still something about the feeling that occurs deep in your chest when you're close to a huge firework display - that's not a metaphorical thing, I'm talking about the percussive thump of lots of explosives sending a shockwave that goes right through you and resonates in your chest. That still impresses me, the pretty explosions themselves I can take or leave, I've seen enough to satisfy me so if I don't see any more I'll not be terribly upset.

As mentioned it's not fun if you've got a dog that is scared of them, it was almost a blessing when one of our dogs went a bit deaf so they could barely hear them.

I am massively into fireworks, I am not 100% sure why guess I just love the noise and effects. Nothing like sending up something big and feeling the sound wave hit your chest.
