When I'm 'texting' I can't bring myself to shorten a word because I feel that somebody will have a go at me so therefore I take ages to text.
My wife (who is 50) has really got the hang of it -
"Ope u av ad yr t. We av ad a gud day got put in 1st clas goin. Jst sitin in pub avin sumfin 2 eat. C u l8r"

Aaaaaaargh

Anybody else who has to write the whole thing out?

I can't stand text type. I'm not perfect at spelling or grammer but i try to keep my writing/spelling as it should be.

Mostly do. Except when i'm going onto a second text by just a few letters. Then I go through it and see where 'you' can be replaced with 'u' :p though can't bring myself to do it with 'are'.

I always write the best I can, never shorten words, just sometimes spell them wrong because I'm a bit thick :p lol.

But Everyone in my family, and all but one of my mates writes in 'txt spk' or how ever it should be shortened :( quite annoying. My girlfriend can't understand why I write full sentences & grammar etc.

I don't really care. It's far easier and saves on space to write "4" rather than "four" for example.

I don't know why people get their knickers in a twist about it.

I do it because it's easier imo, the phones dictionary doesn't know all of these ''short text'' words.

I do often run out of characters though. Shame SMS's can only be so short and a lot of people I know still don't know how to use MMS.

I do, and have managed to convert my girlfriend and a couple of mates too :)
Exactly the same with me. I absolutely detest reading text speak, in both texts, emails, MSN messenger, anything textual related really.

I've even gotten to the stage that I just cannot talk to some mates online because they have such poor spelling and grammar it just drives me up the wall :o

When the misses and I text eachother, if we run out of characters we usually miss out the space after a full stop or a comma. Is a bit weird to read but means you can fit a little more in without sounding coming across a complete retard.

Yeah, I also use correct spelling and grammar in my texts. I don't go in for this text language that only seems to be of use to retards who can't actually spell correctly in the first place.
