X10 power controller + three suitably coloured lava lamps + a few lines of script code = win, and it looks pretty too.
I'm not joking either - some teams have actually done this. We thought about it but since most of the team is hundreds/thousands of miles away from the integration server (which lives next to my desk), seeing the lights would have been rather difficult, not to mention expensive to run.

Here you go. This is the one I was thinking of - with the code to make it 'go'. You'd have to add a third 'lamp' for your implementation...
