just wondered if anybody lives by themselves, just because I may have to for a bit move closer to my work to try save some money but never lived on my own before. i do have a dog though

if so whats your experiences, any advice? cheers

my parents move to cyprus in 2wks, i havent lived with them for a few years and im currently living with a flat mate but my job is kinda moving and i may need to move with it and live on my own for a bit.

I do have a dog.

I live on my own. It's fine and it's only an issue if you let it be one. Just because you are living on your own it doesn't mean that you have to stay in all alone all the time ... you can go out and meet people too!

Just resist the urge to survive on microwave meals and not tidy up at all ... you'll feel a lot better if you are eating properly and are in a nice environment.

:)

Yep certainly do, I was worried about it at first but I love it now. Nobody stealing your food or messing your flat up or hogging the shower. You can do what you want when you want.

I don't live on Microwave meals and only had one takeaway since I've lived here. I hardly make any mess at all so my flat is really tidy.

Truth. :D

Its good being alone, you can experiment and learn to cook, and no one can interfear or laugh at you.

If you live with your flat mate, thats pretty much it, you have stood on your own to feet.

When looking for a place, go to them at night on weekends, scope it out etc.

If I'm not going to be living with the one I love, then I would LOVE to live on my own! I can't see any disadvantages beyond bills tbh.

I live alone half the time since Stan works away every other month :p

Guess it's all down to whether you enjoy your own company or not as to whether you'd like it :)

I have found living by myself to be The Man and I'm going to keep it this way for as long as possible. Do what you want, when you want, all the time. It's grand!

I live on my own and i cant fault it, its awesome. I do what i want when i want, and if the place is a tip its only my fault! Luckily i have friends and family very near and we see a lot of each other.

Im also a good cook so i dont live on pot noodles and toast all the time.

Do it it rocks!

Cooking for one is a bit of a **** though isn't it? I haven't tried personally but I suppose it doesn't matter too much. It's your castle and you're pretty much the King. It'd be nice but I think I need people to have a good rant at for doing things differently to me!

Very true.

I live on my own and tbh after living with fellow students for 3 years it's a strange transition, but ultimately a better experience.

Lived alone for 3 years, now I share a flat with a friend.

Never got lonely being alone, as I've got hobbies to keep myself busy with, and, in any case, most of my friends are lazy layabouts who own cars so they were always willing and able to come over and talk **** over a coffee/beer/game of Tekken.

Now that I'm sharing I can't say I miss the freedom and privacy of being alone either (I thought I would), as my flatmate is much like me, a private person who has her own hobbies and is happy to be left alone for long periods of time, yet also up for a coffee break and a chat whenever the mood strikes us, so I guess I have the best of both worlds. (It also helps that she sleeps like a brick so my music doesn't bother her, or my screaming swearwords when I get frustrated playing a PC game...:p)

Bottom line is, living with strangers sucks, so, if you can afford it, live on your own. Living with friends, however, rocks, so if you have any (:p), move in with them.

I've lived on my own for a couple of months now and it's going very well. I do everything on my own schedule and don't have to worry about other people. You'll find that living on your own you'll probably go out more than if you lived with other people.

I do have a microwave but the only thing I use it for is baked potatoes.

8 min > 1 and a half hours

Been living on me own for about a year now, was hard at first as it was because of a split, however now I find it great. Like everyone says its what you make of it. I personally like being able to do what I want when I want without having to worry about anyone else in the house.

The food thing is good advice, don't get adicted to the microwave! :)
