Anybody own an iPod touch and an iPhone?

My question is as above really. Thinking I like my iPhone but would be easier if I left that it as more of a phone, no movies ,music etc and got an iPod touch to perform these functions.

Mainly a battery life, storage type reasons. Wondered if anybody did the same? My other thought was to get a netbook and use that for those media type functions.

I did have that combo myself. I had a first gen Touch, and then bought the 3G much later. I kept using the Touch for music+videos since it was a 16GB model, and the 3G was an 8GB. I then gave away the touch because the sleep/wake button became intermittent.

I then bought an iRiver Clix2 for music, and still kept the 3G for phone/internet/app use only. Hated the audio playback quality on the touch/iphone compared to the competition anyway.
 
I had the same combo as Kainz, a 1st Gen iPod Touch and a 3G iPhone - I recently sold the Touch and bought an iPod Classic because my music library had outgrown the Touch.
 
I can't really understand that combination personally, unless you purchased an earlier touch and then moved to the iPhone later. For starters, the touch is expensive for the amount of media space you get, especially if that is all you will use it for.

If you were thinking along those lines, I would go for an iPhone and iPod Classic.

That's what I did. I was only just into a contract when the iPhone first appeared so I bought a Touch which sorted me perfectly. It was over a year later that I got the iPhone.
 
I got both a 32GB iPod Touch (2nd generation) and an 8GB iPhone 3G. My iPod is only used for all my music and videos (my entire library fits precisely). I also use my iPhone for music, but just the albums and songs that I want on-the-go :)
 
Tbh, if you're looking for a solid media player I'd avoid the touch and look at a dedicated player like the Samsung range, or if you want to go smaller the Sandisk Sansa range. The touch is a big bugger in your pocket and I always found myself having to remove it from my rear jean pocket so I could sit down on the bus etc.

Guess you need to ask yourself what you want from a music player in the first place. If you already have a solid iTunes collection then you're more or less tied into the iPlod range.

And that is exactly it. I have been using Macs for a good while so all my music/video etc is already in iTunes. Not the end of the world to migrate but would be easier to go the iPod route, what Apple want I suppose.

The size of it is fair point so may be an iPod Classic or something would be better. Perhaps I'll import a Zune ;)

I got a 1st gen ipod touch and a iphone 3g - i'm keeping my touch for when I sell my Iphone to get the new one when it's out and I can still use the apps.
 
I do see your reasoning. I use my iPhone for an iPod and the battery doesnt even last a full 24 hours. Might end up getting a nano at some point for the iPod functions
 
Well I have just got my touch today, and thoroughly impressed, extremely responsive, such a joy to type with and its very user friendly, so easy to navigate, and using programs like last.fm when on wifi is a real joy, it’s so snappy, and I was worried that I’d get annoyed with it being touch screen, but speed and navigation isn't hindered at all.
