Hi, wondering if anyone could help with this.

I should be moving back to the UK in a few months and I came across Drover.

They seem to be a Car Hire type subcription service. The 'Netflix' of car hire as one newspaper put it.

I won't put a link because I'm not sure of the rules, but I was thinking of using them for 6 months or so whilst I find my feet back here.

The other option would be to buy cheap second hand (2-3K) but I need something reliable and have been stung in the past at that sort of price.

Reviews online seem to be variable but just wondered if anyone here had any experience with them?

Seems very expensive. For comparison I compared a 520i on there which was £739 per month. BMW are asking for £548 per month for a car on PCP with similar mileage. That's a massive price difference just for insurance and maintenance to be included.

Now try getting that 520i from BMW for 3 months for £548 a month...

Granted, but if you put it down to 3 months on drover then the price goes up to £946 per month which is just silly. It's convenient I suppose, but still massively expensive.

Edit: If you take it up to a year on Drover then it's £660 so it's more reasonable when you go for the longer time limits like with all finance. I suppose that isn't actually far from the BMW price when you consider it includes insurance and maintenance then. Point taken.

If an EV is acceptable there’s a site called EVEZY which is offering all inclusive car subscriptions on a rolling 30 day contract. Experiences on other forums seem positive. Prices are very competitive given the short term.

Cheers for the replies.

I think the problem I'm going to have with PCP is I've been abroad for 15 years so have no credit history - I suspect getting any kind of finance will be a problem initally but will try anyway.

Very interested in EV but they just don't have the range yet that i need - but its not far away I think.

I think I'll give Drover a try - it actually seems that the relationship is really between you and whichever local car hire firm they get to supply the vehicle. Provided they're decent it should be okay.

I can see the attraction in your scenario but some of the pricing is pretty out there (£560 a month for a 2015 Nissan Juke?). Can you get a loan where ever it was you're based then just use that money to buy a decent motor here?
