Anyone any experience with overclocking the z370 fatal1ty motherboards?

I've got a 1080ti (enroute, maybe one day lol)

A 8700k cpu

16GB of 4000MHz ram

and a i7, Z370 professional gaming MB

I cant for the life of me figure out the very pretty looking bios (now updated) to overclock the cpu. had gigabyte boards all me pc life and though their basic in their bios setup, they are at least a doddle to use. this Asrock board is a whole new ball park.

I've done the obvious, updating the bios and the chipset drivers etc. but I just cant get my head around the bios layout. help from anyone would be helpful, preferably from someone that's used the boards rather than just someone tell telling me to load up this that and the other.(there's an old but useful sticky for that!)

Put simply, I cant work out the shortcuts and initials they have put in certain settings. hardly a great start then, not that it matters at the mo. 2.2.18 is the **** or bust time for my gpu card. I so hope a certain company very close to this site aint gonna let that time slip to much. playing bloody lemmings at the mo!!! lol

there must be SOMEONE out there that's bought a z370 fatal1ty board? odds on it wont need to be the profess gaming board, but of the cheaper of even far more expensive boards. the BIOS will be laid out very simpler I'm sure. Tell me how you got on if you will, I'm desperate. lol

These settings are likely too high for your chip and be careful if you're on air cooling... knock them down a bit, but here's my 5.2GHz:

Keep VCCIO & VCCSA @ 1.18V

Hmmmmmm. Right, well that gives me a marker at least. Great set of screenshots so ta. Now as it happens I am indeed air cooling. What would you tweak down a little to save me making something blow? (...other than the two voltages you suggested keeping as is)

I'm guessing you haven't de-lidded... so temps will be what you're fighting.

Main thing to keep an eye on is CPU voltage.

Start with 1.25V and see how far you can go with that & keep an eye on your temps.

Everything else should be fine.

Start with the all-core CPU ratio at 47 and go up 1 at a time until it doesn't work anymore.

I'd guess 1.3V should be safe on air with an unmodded CPU... but start low and keep a close eye on temperature.

Well, your bios is certainly different in its layout to mine. I've tried my hardest to follow suit with your alterations, toning them down on the oc, just cos yes I am on an air cooled system, but it's been a difficult job.

They say a little insight can be more dangerous than none at all, and it appears to be the case with this scenario. Thank you for your input though, it's been a bit of an eye opener!

I'm confused... the pictures of your bios look the same as mine?
hmmm. I'm looking at them on my pad whilst looking at yours and they do indeed look the same.

in short, I may of made a bit of a **** up when I looked at your pics last time out. feeling a bit of a tool. lol.

I was fine with the cpu changes, but the RAM threw me a bit. looks like I need to force the right speed out of it and the voltage changes I'm clueless about. the config does indeed look the same though. a late night burning the candle at both ends might be to blame, least that's the excuse I'm sticking with. sorry Shoes

can I ask you one thing. guessing your water cooled, but what kind of temps are you letting the cpu get to? its idling temp of 40+ bothers me somewhat.

You don't need to do much with RAM - just enable the XMP profile and it'll set the correct timings for you. I only upped the voltage a teeny bit as for some reason, that seemed to help me with stability.

Yes I'm watercooled and de-lidded... the CPU has it's own dedicated 480mm rad.

It's overkill, but means I can run the fans and pump at their lowest setting... even under load they don't need to spin up.

I run the CPU at 5.2GHz 24/7, don't let it cycle down... with that and my low fan/pump speeds, it idles around 40C. Under load it's 55-60C. Gets lower if I spin the fans & pump up... but I like having my system as close to silent as possible & this is almost inaudible.

On air, I'd be ok with load temps up to 75-80C.
