going over in July for 3 days and will be seeing a concert at the Olympic Stadium, prob gonna take the youth hostel route. just wondering if anyone has stayed out there and used the hostels or found cheap bedding.

good tips and places to go?

I lived there for 5 years, but no ideas about hostels sorry. For a good nightlife go to Schwabing, it's on the U6 and U3 line (same as Olympiapark), get off at either Muenchner Freiheit or Gieselastrasse and you'll see loads of bars/restaurants on either side of the road. If you want to be a tourist then you can go to the Hofbrauhaus, you need ot get to Marienplatz station for this (S bahn or U bahn). Steins, um-pah band etc.

There is a clubbing area next to Ostbahnhof, and strip clubs near the Hauptbahnhof. There is a road called Schillerstrasse which consists of PC component shops (selling stuff like ocuk), sex shops and strip clubs. Geek heaven.

Hi,

The train is about 35-45 mins from the centre, you can get the S8 or the S1 train from there - the trains terminate at the airport and the station is directly in/under terminal 1 so you can't really go wrong. Follow the signs with a green circle with a white S in it. Check where you are staying as the S8 goes one way round the city and the S1 the other way, although they both end up in the centre in the end.

the Allianzarena is about 20 minutes from the town centre on the U6 - you get off at Frottmanning. This was my journey to work for 3 years (well a few stops more to Garching) so I know it well, was amazing to see the ground going from a field to what it is now! The ground is so much nicer than the old one in the Olympiastadium where you could be miles from the pitch.

Thats the Olympic Stadium, Bayern/1860's old ground. They moved to the Allianz Arena about 4 years ago :D

Just get on the U3 to Olympiapark to go to the gig.
