Surprisingly couldn't find a thread on it

Had a letter today from the NHS with a signup code.
the website looks like anyone can just sign up, but people living near a clinic are likely to be randomly invited by the NHS

Seems it some charity that works with the NHS

Seems like a no brainer?
A few measurements & blood/cholesterol tests
then at some point

But in the future, we will get in touch to ask if you would like to receive personal feedback from your samples, DNA or other data. You might learn new information about your health or risk of disease from this feedback. We will always give you more information and the chance to ask questions before you make your decision, and you can say yes or no.

Anyone done it? sounds like you get the chance to find out how crap your DNA is and what your probably going to die of :D

I had one of these a while back. I did the online survey, but never actually got around to booking the appointment. It would be interesting to see what you actually find out though and if it's worth it.

Yeah I have just done it, not completed the questionnaire yet but I have had the physical side of it done, actually turns out my blood pressure was a little high so need to get that investigated...
Be interested to know if I get any feedback from any of the blood tests.

I did it about two years ago(ish) as I think it's a worthy thing to contribute to. Blood pressures were fine and at this point I haven't learnt anything or had any contact with regards to bloodwork. I'm not expecting anything other than perhaps some genetic info, I donate plasma/platelets so I assume my bloodwork is ok :P.

Just saying........

Got an invite. Ignored it.

Whilst I'm sure it has a benefit, I'd rather they spent money on actually cutting waiting lists, letting people get appointments for more urgent things, rather than screening me for a "maybe you might have future issues"

Regular screening for possible developing or future issues is a key tenet of the state controlled, but privately operated health system here in France.

Thinking is that early diagnosis = early and more successful treatment = most efficient use of healthcare resources and best outcome for patient.

That isn't the point of it.

Imagine if such a thing had existed 100 years ago and the benefits that would have had to medicine today.

That is more the point of it.

The point being that if discovered early enough, you will not be a drain on the No Help Service later on, which would should be beneficial to those waiting...

I found French health service are a bit ready to put you on statins (for life), but the PSA test you can get relatively easily gives reassurance.

future health sounded a bit like the Rekall company ?
