anyone been out drinking in York ?

Hello

Me and a few mates are thinking about going drinking in York.

It just doesn't seem one of the major places to go, but on the other hand has loads of pubs.

What nights the best/busiest Friday or Saturday

Just after some opinions from those who have been?

I've only been out during the day for a trip out with work.

We ended up in most the pubs on the main street (sorry i cant remember the names as it was a while ago) then spent most the evening in Yates. That place is huge and its meant to be quiet good at night.
 
Well i googled it and loads of stag party stuff came up so it should ok. With it having a uni, should be a bonus.. students go where the beer flows.

i suppose you cant really go wrong, apparently 300+ pubs :O
 
Yeah its meant to be very good for stag nights n stuff like that so you should have a good time i recon.

Its defo a place id wanna go to again for an all-dayer. :)
 
York is a great night out plenty of pups and the silks the night club has some nice totty in there
plenty of stag night out there every night and hen partys
great atmosphere too
 
Yes. Many many times. I was a student at the uni. Awesome place for drinks, got slightly scary during the weekends when the townies would go out, having woman older than my mum wearing less than the Essex girls I'm used to and having them hit on me wasn't fun.
 
York is a crap place to go out!

If you want bars Micklegate is popular, it has loads of pubs in one street - good for a pub crawl.
Theres bars pretty much everywhere tbh, yates, varsity, The Lowther (near the Gallery) and judges lodgings (opposite varsity) are the best imo.

Clubs:
Ziggys: on micklegate its an old house and crap
Toffs: Also crap
Gallery: Okish but theres a massive queue after about 10:30
Nexus: Not really a clubs - its a bit small and free entry I think

ahh not good news, do you think its only carp cos you live there, i hate middlesbrough for drinking.

another thing all the pubs on there seem to be pubs my dad would go to are they all like that.. ? i am starting to think newcastle might be a better idea

You have no idea how much that tickled me due to how my boyfriend looks!

Only been out drinking in York once. Went to a wedding party and on finding that the drinks there were £3 a single vodka and coke went to the nearest offy and smuggled a bottle in in my tardis-like handbag.

I'm a classy bird me.
 
Put it this way. All the people I know in York, go to other towns/cities for their nights out.

Used to live there myself, and although there are a lot of places, none of them are any good.
