One colleague just sent it to another... without telling her. The power button on her phone has been playing up recently so, as you can imagine, she wasn't very pleased.

Android had an SMS attack that made the phone send premium rate SMS messages. Feature phones were subject to the SMS-o-death attack. And there was even attacks on phones back in the late 90s / early 00s targeting SMS.

This must be the 3rd or 4th time that a selection of valid Unicode characters in an unexpected sequence has caused iOS to foul itself and reset.

The last time it affected OS X as well as iOS. And it was Arabic text that time too.

The point is, just like computers, pretty much all phones are susceptible to attacks. Doesn't matter if it's iOS, Android, Series ## from Nokia, or others.

The arabic message was probably developed by the CIA to disable terrorist phones to stop them remotely detonating IEDs or warning other cells of an attack.
