Howdy all!

So me and my girlfriend are going to Helsinki for four days at the end of the month. Anyone ever been? Got any suggestions for things to do?

Any and all suggestions welcome! =)

Don't do what I did and get lost in the middle of the city at 4am while extremely drunk and forget where your hotel is! It was -20 or so at the time and I think I nearly froze to death! :p

I went for a friends wedding and it was great! It was in July though and they got married in the cathedral/church right in the middle of the city by the square. I found it a very clean and safe place to be. Food is a bit weird but there was a maccys across the road. There was a cracking bar right by and opening on to the park called Theater. Drinking isnt cheap though, it was about £5-6 a pint and that was about 14 years ago. The people were ok but wouldn't call them friendly. I will say though that I wouldn't drive or hire a car. In many places you can gather what the road signs mean but when getting taxis about I didn't have a clue where the signs were pointing towards. All in though a nice place. :)

As already said Suomenlinna is nice place to walk around for the day.

The Karl Fazer cafe is lovely, great snacks and chocolate.

Have a drink at the Hotel Torni roof bar, very expensive but great views.

There is a theme park just north of the city which you can get to easy by bus or train. I haven't been there myself but my missus recommends it highly.

Drink lots of Karhu...
