Hi,

I'm over in California/Nevada for the first two weeks in September and looking at my rough plan I should be in San Fran for Game 1 of the season so it's kind of a must that I've got to see a game if possible :D

Monday 10th Sept is Chargers @ Oakland and looking at the NFL website they've obviously all sold out but available second hand on the market through ticketmaster. Anyone done this before?

Finally I know expensive tickets = better but any ones to avoid or good value?

Don't really want to spend more then $150.

Any other advice would be good.

Cheers

I got tickets for the Giants when I was in NY a few years back - got them through StubHub.com. Had them sent to our hotel - no problems at all. I don't remember them being cheap, but as a Giants fan I really didn't care :D

That's the thing, I'm not got my hotels booked, doing it while there so our days can stay flexible.

Looking at the official NFL / ticketmaster site above most tickets are e-mailed now so I can just print them.

Just received my tickets for the Giants @ Eagles game in Philly on 30th September. Big game, big rivalry, so tickets weren't cheap. I paid $220 a piece for top tier bang on the 50 yard line. It's also Brian Dawkins retirement ceremony that game so I'm well happy!

Every Eagles game is sold out to normal ways of acquiring tickets. The waiting list for season ticket holders is years, so resale is the only method available. I got my tickets from ticketsnow.com (owned by Ticketmaster). Safe an reliable, although they do add about a 20% service charge per ticket. RIDICULOUS. I ended up paying an extra 80 bucks or so in shipping and service charges by the end of checkout. Then had to pay it all over again for a Longhorns college game in a seperate purchase.

As to your game... There's a few places you can sit, it depends on your taste. I prefer to sit up high on the 50 yard line. Although the lower tier is considered better and more expensive, I actually prefer seeing it from the angle of the TV cameras as there's so much going on in NFL games - you can see everything.

Then there's redzone. Sitting on the 20 yard line and beyond into the end zone will pay off if you think the teams could be scoring a lot. If it's a low scoring game you're gonna be looking to your left or right a lot of the game. It's hit and miss, but when it pays off you're sat infront of the touchdown. Personally, I'd prefer the 50 yard line still. Packers fans would disagree with me as their most sought after seats are on the endzone barriers ready for the Lambeau Leap.

The ends of the stadium are a personal taste. Do you want to see it from the quaterbacks perspective? Personally, no. Again, I want to watch the whole game at once, not a warped perspective angle that you get for a split second on Madden or something. NFL isn't football, it's not fluid and one-by-one like English football. There's a gazillion things going on at once that you want to be able to watch at your hearts content. Saying that however, the atmosphere and alcohol will take care of your limited view, I'm sure.

It all depends really on what you want from the game. If you're new to the American football and want to experience the American live sports-viewing atmosphere, just get what's cheapest. If you're new to American football and you want to experience the atmosphere but also try and learn a thing or too and take in the game more properly, try and get central seats up high. If you want to seriously get in on the action then go for the lower tier, not too low though or the teams have actually been known to block out people's views when stood at their benches! I doubt those tickets will be 150 bucks however.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and FLY EAGLES FLY.

Cheers great info. Think we'll go for 50yard line high up as we're not massive fans. I enjoy watching it but by no means follow it. Going mainly for the experience. And my Mrs won't have a clue :p

Do they have "ends" like football over here? You seem to be able to buy tickets anywhere.

Absolutely it will be a good season - as long as they dont try and make Vick play like Manning, let him do his thing!

Go Eagles :D
