I just finished this course at 6th as I had to do a level 2 course for a year to rack up points.
I imagine my course contained a much bigger work than load yours will (My teacher was apointed half-way through the year to teach a GCSE class in a school miles away as the teacher had royally screwed it. He mentioned the workload was much different) but I'll tell you my opinion on the course.
It's a easy course. I achieved a distinction with relative ease (I'd be worried if I could not on a level 2 course). Half my work load was documenting evidence (Yes, as boring as it sounds) like doing annotates, story-boards, user feed-back, all that stuff. Like other courses, if you get your mits on the marking scheme for your unit your laughing (You teacher should give this to you).
You'll use mainly standard office programs like word, access (only once as it goes

), excel, publisher etc... Thinking about it, I probably used Adobe photoshop the most but don't expect to learn many skills (Ultimately this is in your hands). You'll likely do the basics of layers and some simple editing, that's about it. You will use Macromedia Dreamweaver for about 1 week. Yes, we spent 1 week with it. To get more use out of it I created my E-portfolios using dreamweaver, that's up to you (some people like to make their portfolios using word *shudders*).
The course gets VERY boring towards the end. We created 4 units and it really is the same **** but a different day on unit 3 and 4. Create a piece of work (Takes the least amount of time by far), obtain evidence such as user-feed back (compiling this evidence gets the most annoying. You've done pretty much identical evidence for previous work so it REALLY does start to feel samey) then compile it.
Whatever you do for unit 4; GET A DECENT GROUP. At least 4 people in my group failed the course because they didn't expect the final unit to be so "hard" (Hard is the wrong word. Basically it's a team task so if 1 person from your group doesn't turn up, you ultimately can't move on with the unit)
Dude, you won't need to learn anything over the holidays. There is nothing to it. If you want to pass and you're not a full fledged retard you will pass with relative ease

I'll upload my unit 4 e-portfolio when I have time so you can see what is required.
Sorry I've rambled loads here and probably didn't answer your question to well. You got any specific questions?
yhack, we didn't bloody get Fireworks or flash

College couldn't afford it

(Edit...I don't think that was it actually, I think the PC's simply couldn't handle them. This course is endorsed by Macromedia I believe so they provide the software for free (Also applies to students I believe)
