Looking to sell the Exige and Audi, and move to one car. Current contenders are an Elise 111S or R, an SLK55 AMG or a Porsche 964 (note, not interested in 993s, 996's, Boxsters, SL55's, BMW's or any alternatives to the above, already whittled down the shortlist!)

Drove an SLK55 at the weekend, which is was a lovely car and the engine is simply stunning - but the autobox isn't ideal, plus I'm not entirely convinced by the image.

Struggling to find a manual, tintop 964 within a 100miles of me at a dealer to get an idea, and I just wondered if anyone had ever tried one? More than likely it'll be a C2, and no, I can't afford a Turbo or an RS ;)

Hopefully looking at a tiptronic at the weekend, but I'll be wanting a manual, but its the only one anywhere near me!

I know of one within 20 miles of you. It's not in the best state right now but it will be soon as the owner is bringing it back to full health and will be selling it. Car has been built as a track toy and has some nice parts on it. See it now and it would probably cause you to run a mile but it will be bang on when finished. It is left hand drive however but a great base car if you want a quick and sorted road/track car.

..and don't buy a tiptronic, really, don't. If you plan to get something proper like a nice 964 C2 then don't make it a slush box.

Cheers, but LHD will be just too much of a PITA for work - ditto the trackday spec, it'll be used as a daily so the luxuries will be required :p

And god no, I'm not getting a a tiptronic, its just the nearest dealer example to me at the moment so it'll be used purely as a 'feeler' !

Too old to drive every day, a 993 would be the earliest Porsche i'd want to drive daily.
