Hi guys.

I'm on this diet at the moment which consists of water, and 2 'milkshakes' a day ( I use that term lightly) No chewing gum. No flavored mouthwash. No nothing just water and these 2 shakes!

It is working very well, and will set me up to start eating a little more healthy and varied diet and start cooking more.

I have about another week and a half of this diet to go, and it has left me looking very forward to my first proper meal! And I have the urge to start trying new foods, new meats and new ways of cooking.

One of the meats I have considered trying is Rabbit. I have to admit, Like most people the idea of eating game is a little strange and i am a little un-certain about it. I was wondering what people here think of it, what it tastes like, what does it compare to, best ways to cook it etc etc.

If anyone has any other recommendations for recipes which are a little out of the ordinary then please shout.

Also, Are global knives still the best choice? I have an excuse to buy new stuff ah ha ;)

Nowt up with a bit of rabbit, especially in a stew or curry :D I catch my own, kill them, skin, joint and then eat them. Cooked over a fire in the woods for extra alphaness. Win.

Google around and if you struggle I'll copy some off one of the hunting forums I frequent. Oh, and rabbit tastes like rabbit. It's not too gamey though, you should be fine.

I've had rabbit stew a few times, and my dad also has rabbit with a basic tomato sauce sometimes. It's pretty bland - I want to say it tastes like chicken but it doesn't have a strong flavour to it at all.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

i love rabbit stew as the meat flavour intensifies. slower cooked the better really. im not one for eating rabit steak as its a bit bland that way, i would also reccomend pheasent.

speak to your local butcher and see if he can source some for you, if not speak to a farmer, i love shooting my own rabbits, really easy and fresh meat.

Global knives are amazing.

What is your budget?
Okay, So i didn't realise how much a set of global's were... anything a little cheaper?

Reminds me of the matrix... everything tastes like chicken.

From my former life of a boring diet... I was never too keen of meats in a wet sauce such as stews and casseroles, Preferring roasted, grilled or BBQ'

I had no idea that eating game was considered strange

Rabbit is best when slow-cooked. Rabbit stews are generally very nice.

I could live off game alone. Partridge, Venison, Pheasant, Bear, Boar and so on - all absolutely delicious.

Perhaps strange was the wrong term... But its not something most people would ordinarily eat as much as chicken, beef and lamb ( although i could be wrong)

However Game is something I have never even considered eating. The closest i have ever gotten is Chinese crispy duck

I do ahve a problem with trying new things though, which pretty much lead me onto a very samey diet, eating the same stuff over and over.
I will seriously get therapy if i have to, just to try some new stuff without that feeling before you put it in your mouth. I envy people who can just try anythign weather they end up liking it or not.

by the way...

Rabbit tastes surprisingly nice actually. It's just a pain in the arse to eat because it's full of small bones.
