Because very happy with my 3950X its a beast of a chip, sell that and no new chipset i'm good with spending a few hundred net on the upgrade... Single thread improvements look great and i'm potentially going to drop in a 6900XT

My thinking also Smffy, though i may settle for a 6800 XT. We'll see.

Same here, not having to buy a new motherboard makes this decision even easier I think. I will buy the 5950X providing I can get hold of one and sell on my 3950X which has been an incredible CPU thus far. All things being well I will then pair it up with a 6900XT and move on my 2080TI.

Keep checking the bios releases over the next 6 months, officially no, word from amd is 500 series on launch 400 series around Jan but I wouldn't be surprised if support started slipping back to 300 series boards as well.
